Peeps do downtown Minneapolis!!!!!

Great time at our impromtu get together! We drove up to Minneapolis and met up with Randy(Vike57) and Gina(RedIrish) at their motel and headed off to Brit's on the Nicollet Mall. Although it was cool and it sprinkled on us once we stayed outside and had cocktails, ate some food, did a lot of talking and watched the outdoor wedding at the plaza at Orchestra Hall! Quite the wedding.....the guys liked the bridesmaid who was wearing a formal miniskirt....if there is such a thing.
We invited some friends of ours that live in the Twin Cities so they added to the mix and everyone hit it off which is what we figured. We've got great friends. We headed up to the roof of Brits to get more drinks and food and check out the lawn bowling. The drinks and food worked out fine but the lawn bowling pitch was booked by a private party. Sucked because they were only using two of twelve lanes. The swine!!!
As we were eating it started to sprinkle a bit more aggressively so we commandeered some umbrellas and kept on partying! Who says we aren't smart enought to come in out of the rain! We decided to leave Brits and head out looking for a drinking establishment that we would be assured of not getting thrown out of. We ended up at a tiny bar at a great Italian family style restaurant Buca de Beppo. Finally Randy got his Coors Lite!!!
So we kept on with the partying.....ordered some food and ate at the bar....our friend Bill was getting louder and the stories were getting funnier....I'm still tired from all the laughing!
Randy and Gina had invited some friends from Delano that they had met in Playa and they showed up and the tiny bar was packed!
But alas soon after they arrived we had to head home to let the dogs out to pee.......it looked the party was going to survive without us. So Gina says she doesn't do the Vikings games with a hangover.....I wonder how that worked for her!
The drive home(90 minutes) was uneventful....except for when the designated driver(Jan) listened to the drinking navigator(me) and we missed our exit and had to turn around.
The dogs were totally sacked out when we got home....obviously they worked hard making sure no squirrels got in the house.
I'm sure I'm missing some bits and Jan took one picture with her new phone so we'll see how that works out. We had a great time and I hope we get to do it again!

Hmmmmm... I feel honor bound to point out that I had possession of the camera/phone, but feel free to smack Erik upside the head anyway. I'm sure he will do something to deserve before the day is out.

Ok.........I didn't even see Jan take one pic with her phone....or did I ??? Hmmmm....well..I'll spill the beans as best I remember......
Brits was pretty cool.....as many times that we have walked by the place...we had never stopped...now I know why...they don't serve Coors Lite.....aaarrrggghhhhhhh...what to do. Well,I slumed it and drank Bud Lite....That will catch up to me later in the story. Meeting Erik and Jan again was a real treat. They are really two great people. Their friends were also very awesome. Treated us like they had known us for years. The wedding across the street was quite the site.....that mini skirt was to die for.....don't think I have ever seen that before....at least not on a bridesmaid at the alter.....lol. As we were watching that, a horse drawn carriage came plopping along. I noticed a young lady showing off her finger(no not that one),she had just got engaged....sucker. We gave them a standing ovation anyway. Went upstairs to check out the lawn bowling.....all I could think about was having my chipper and putter out on that gorgeaous pitch.....that would have been a blast. We hung out for a while telling stories and drinking,then decided to move on. The girls said they knew of a new place down the block that was pretty cool. Must not have been to cool.....it was out of business already(maybe they knew we were coming). So we moved on. Came across Buca de Beppo. It was quite crowded at the little bar that we basically took by storm and planted our Viking Flag. There ended up being 14 of us in about a 10' x 10' room. If we weren't friends before...we are now.....lol.
We all exchanged stories and it became time for Jan, Erik and their 4 friends to leave. Gina and I and the 6 friends we met in Playa 2 years ago decided to tough it out. At 11 pm,they politely asked us to leave so their workers could go home..........11PM.....no way. Oh well,we were courteous and downed our last drink and off we went.
For those of you who know Gina and I ......11pm, with friends does not make a nite end.........so......the girls decided they would find us a new place to finish the nite.......WELL.....that didn't work. Everywhere we went was packed and with waiting lines. I finally popped up and said lets go to Spikes...it is the sports bar at the Hyatt in Downtown. Breezed over to the Hyatt and thank you very much,we breezed right in and continued our little party. Needless to say.....we sort of lost track of time. Next thing I knew...the house lites were up and last call was made....what so early. I soon found out..it was 1:30 am. Aaaarrgghhhh,where did the nite go. So,after polishing off one more Coors lite for the road....we said our good byes and walked back to the hotel in a very chilly misty nite.
In most cases....this is where the story should end....oh heavens no. As you may have read in Erik's opening....he mentioned how Gina said it was not recommended to go to the dome with a hang over.....SHE DIDN'T.......but let me tell you.....I DID. That was the Bud Lite talking. Everytime I drink it,I have a major hangover. It was a long nite.....the bed,well,lets just say what little I spent in it.....never ceased to move. The dome was deafening......why do they scream so loud. I learned my lesson..... till the next time . We really enjoyed meeting everyone again and are looking forward to the Green Bay get together at the end of September.

Yes it was a fast game.....on the lite rail by 3 and at the bar in the airport by 3:30. Got to watch a little football and drink one Coors lite for the road(choked it down).
