Oh my God- those pics are just sooooooo...... I don't even have words. They capture so much!!!!!

I guess when you're there you'll experience me hopping into your focus all the time in the hopes that finally SOMEONE manages to take a good pic of me!!
I am the impersonation of unphotogenic.

Thanks for reminding me that you can also find "real" Mexico on the beach, not just in town

I'll have to go check out the beach you mentioned.
Phil,
Thanks for showing your awesome pictures!!!! I love "curly toes" and "Have we got enough money"." These, along with the pictures of Akumal are wonderful daily scenes. Good luck with your project.

Thanks.

I'm glad you enjoyed it

It's also one of my favourites.

If you visited my gallery, you may have noticed this other shot called "Friends", where the same boy as in "Curly Toes" is looking up the street at a couple of other kids:

It was quite an intriguing situation because "Curly Toes" never stopped staring at the kids up the street the whole time I was taking his picture.

I never found out what was going on between them, but the moment sure made for a couple of nice shots.

Thanks again

These are great people shots. The colors are so vibrant. What type of camera did you use?

I have some pics from back there, but right now I am in the process of switching from Imagestation to Shutterfly and my accounts are closed.

I have really enjoyed your photos.
Thanks

You know? I never even thought of going across

And (I'm almost ashamed to admit this) I've actually never been to Cozumel

Maybe it's about time.

Thanks for the suggestion

How about this?

If you happen to be there when we head into town for the photo shoot, maybe you can be our official guide.

I'll sneak pictures of you during our tour and I guarantee I'll capture a few good ones.

I still have to meet the person who doesn't have a good side:

Thanks.

The pictures posted here were taken with a Nikon D70.

All the pre-2005 ones in my galleries were taken with an Olympus C-2100UZ. The rest are with the D70.

Hope this helps

All so great but the 'pepper seller' has such a beautiful face... Imagine what she looked like 40 years ago?...

Phil- that is such a sweet offer. Unfortunatly judging by our counters I won't get there in time. Unless you plan on coming back later this year again..........plus having not been in Playa for a long time I would be the perfect guide to get lost, not to get good pics.

Thanks Pam

"Beach Bum" was soooo cute. I wish I would have had more time to hang around photographing him.

And she was beautiful on the inside too.

I always approach the people I photograph to ask if I can take their picture. And after I'm done, I like to give them a few pesos to thank them for letting me invade their privacy with my camera.

Well, when I offered "Selling Peppers" a few coins after taking her picture, she looked at me with a quizzical look on her face. Next thing I know she's offering me some of her peppers in exchange for the money. I had to explain that I did not want anything for the money and that it was my way of saying thanks for the pictures. She gave me a big smile, laughed and thanked me as I walked away.

She was a really special lady.

Anyway, thanks for the comments on the pictures

Oh well, it was an idea. As you say, maybe next time.

But, by the sounds of it, you'd be the perfect guide Getting lost is an excellent way to find great off the beaten path photo ops you would not have found otherwise.
