Not exactly what I had thought the experience would be.

At the risk of being struck down myself... ... I would like possibly to have a dolphin swim again while I am in Playa, this time more of the "proper" experience. Although I would love to do it, I am not a diver and daren't venture out into the open sea for a chance encounter so (awaits lightening bolt) am considering one of these "parks".

I am travelling alone though and am aware some of these places are only enjoyable if you have others with you and are wanting to spend the whole day there. On that basis, would you recommend Xcaret?
My wife and I did Xcaret, the kids did it the following year at Xel-ha.
I think that Xcaret was a better time than Xel-ha was.

Cheers. You have just answered in a nutshell the thing I have been agonising over for a while now - this "X" or that "X". Thanks again, both of you.

Thanks for info, will check on-line as well. I don't think I would book anything before we arrived! My husband and I went to Blue Bay Getaway in Cancun several times & the resort offered a great day trip on a Catamaran. It was a great deal included unlimitied Rum Punch, snorkeling, lunch, shopping (in Isla Mujeras) & a spiniker sail thing. It was nice b/c all the people were from the resort, it was a great way to meet people! Any one been to Blue Bay Getaway, how would you compare it to RPDC?????

Another question about rooms at RPDC

Sorry, I know many people ask this question, but do you think it's worth it to pay more for ocean-view????
I booked Jr Suite, was going to ask travel agent when paying balance how much more for upgrading? According to RPDC shouldn't be much more than $100 (4 nights) which is worth it, I guess???
I really didn't care about the view when I booked, but it sounds like there is a beautiful one, & I might regret not paying the difference!

Blue Bay Getaway and the Royal PDC are about as different as two resorts could possibly be. Not only are they located in two very different areas (Cancun vs. Playa), you can't compare the quality of BBG to the Royal PDC. The BBG also supports a somewhat...adults only open-minded atmosphere (OK, so that's how I'm describing it ). The Royal PDC is simply an upscale resort that accepts no children under the age of 16 - what goes on at BBG does not go on at the Royal PDC (not that we are supposed to know of anyway).

BTW - in order to do the online check in 48 hours prior to arrival, you must be staying in a room that offers the Royal Service. The lowest category of Royal Service room would be a Jr. Suite Ocean View. If you booked a Standard Jr. Suite, you can't check in online.

I figured & was hoping that is why we are trying some where new! It can be too much fun & not relaxing enough at BBG. I hope still a party atmosphere? Or do you have to go to 5th Ave bars??? I'm just excited to try something different went to BBG 4 times & wanted something nicer!
