Hi. I don't know about the VIP status but you might try emailing in-house reservations at reservas [dot] akumal [at] bahia-principe [dot] com

I would write Attn: servicios de clientes in the subject line.
Usually for me that has worked. My emails make it to guest services, general managers etc...

You might also want to say first thing in the email:...Lo siento mi espanol no es bueno. Yo necesito escribir in Ingles por favor.... I'm sorry my spanish is not good. I need to write in English please. At least is shows you are trying!

I hope that helps!
Marissa

That's the address I have as well, and it worked last time I sent them something.

You might try: info [dot] akumal [at] bahia-principe [dot] com

Bahia guest services

guestservice2 [at] tulum [dot] bahia-principe [dot] com
Above is the e-mail for the Bahia Principe
Sara Gasparotto is in charge of guest services. To become a VIP you need to have been a visitor with them for 5 times

Hi Rich,
Have you stayed in all 3 of the hotels?
I've no idea which of the three we will be staying in, hope its beach front, although we have upgraded to the Junior Suite if that makes a difference as to which of the 3 hotels we will be put in.

Any tips or pointers about the resort are most welcome if you have any?

We stayed on the Tulum side all 5 times. It is closer to the beach and a short walk to everything else. The Akumal side is newer and is a short walk or tram ride to the beach. The Coba part is a long walk to everything or a tram ride. The part I don't like about the Akumal and Coba is the mosquitoes. You don't have the wind to keep them away because they are not near the beach. You will be able to choose different restaurants while you are there. Go to bahia-gormet.com and you can get a list of all the restaurants and there menus. If you like seafood the El Pescador is pretty good and the La Gormet was fantastic. Great resort, it will be hard not to have a great time.

Just got a reply:

"Dear Mr *****

First of all thank you very much for choosing the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum Resort to pass your holidays. Regarding your questions, your reservation is made for a junior suite in the Tulum Hotel. The difference between the standard and the junior suite is that you have a sofabed in the room, small sitting corner and a bathtub with hydromassage. You can use almost all the facilities of the three hotels, restaurants, bars, pools,...

As an honeymooner you will have a fruit basket and a small bottle of tequila in your room. Do you prefer a ground, middle or upper floor? I will try to meet your needs concerning the request.

Please don´t hesitate to contact me with any further questions you may have!
Hope to meet you soon here in the resort. I will be happy to help you with any questions you may have during your stay.

Kind regards

Cheers for that info Rich.

What would you recommend with regards which room is best, ie. ground, middle or upper??
I was thinking upper for the view.

I stay on the ground floor (no steps). You can't see the beach at night and I am not in the room during the day. The third floor has the king beds, the others have 2 full size that they put together if it just the two of you. Let Nikki of Sara know what kind of bed you want, that will determine what floor. I saw that Nikki responded to you email. Both Sara and Nikki are great people, if you need anything they are there to help.

I stayed on the Akmal side and my villa was beachfront (Golden Club) so very close to the ocean - although you couldn't swim out front (too rocky). You had to go a little ways to get to a better part of the beach for swimming. I did like the multi level pool area at the Tulum, we spent a few days there.
And I would go for an upper floor, reason being that the view is better AND you won't have anyone pouncing on the tile floors in high heels over your head! I always request top floor wherever I go - but if you have stair issues, you might opt for ground floor.

It is a great resort, you'll enjoy it I'm quite sure!
