well, i tried to vote and was told i'd already voted...but i hadn't! maybe i clicked the mouse mistakenly before the page loaded and it hit on the vote? i dunno

the site says.....Please keep it fair, and vote only once.
(UPDATE: Just a quick note, guys… Although there is a work-around to put in multiple votes, when I look at the final results in the logs, I will be making sure the vote was fair. Multiple votes from the same machine WILL BE DELETED from the tally.)

Why is it unlikely I'll win? Well first, I have been so busy the past few days that I wasn't even aware I was in the contest, and voting closes at midnight Pacific time tomorrow (Saturday). Not much time to put together a campaign . Secondly, I am up against some local television and blogging personalities, so they have a huge audience to direct their campaign towards.

But I'm not going to give up! If nothing else, I don't want to come in at the bottom of the heap. But I certainly would love to win, and if the peeps here could help me to do so, I promise to put that gift certificate towards some good Playa pics!

The decision on the camera was made easier by the fact that I have Canon SLR equipment in that old film thingy medium. I ended up buying a Rebel XTi (400D in Europe). It's a bit more plastic and toyish than my film body, and I would have definitely have liked to get the new 40D; but the 40D was new that week and the price is still too high (especially if I want to be able to go to Playa!). If we weren't taking a trip in a month that we wanted to have the new camera beforehand, I would have waited a few months for the 40D to get cheaper.

But on the plus side, the wife is suddenly very interested in the DSLR and is snapping away with it. She never wanted to touch the SLR before, as she didn't want to waste film during the learning process. But I can already see that in a year or so I'll be able to buy the 40D so that we have two digital bodies available for us to use.

So while I get to use all my old lenses with the new digital body, the flash technology has changed and my old flash will only work with the old body . Come on people, I need that new flash!!!

Wow! I was mainly not wanting to be in last place, but now I'm thinking that with the help of all the great peeps out there, I might actally be able to give the leaders a run for their Wii!

Well I didn't win... I didn't stand much of a chance since I started campaigning late... but at least I didn't look like the friendless dweeb I am in real life!

I just wanted to thank everyone that put in a vote for me... Playa peeps can always be counted on for support!
