well, it's more pictures than words, but here goes

Arrival in Venice early evening, via water taxi from the airport

Arrival right to the front of our hotel, the Bauer Il Palazzo.....the hotel, view, location, etc. ended up being one of the highlights of Venice

Venice in the evening

The following morning, breakfast on the rooftop with my good friend Gianni that I got to know very well over the following days. The waitresses would always be shooing him off, but I'm pretty sure they secretly liked him...they did name him after all

First touristy stop....St. Mark's Square. These next couple of shots are not for the faint of heart.....or people who are afraid of birds, call pigeons flying rats, etc. I have a video too but it might be slightly terrifying if you're ever watched The Birds

But it sure was a highlight for me.

More Venice.....

I wish more street corners looked like this in Houston

It was nice seeing this gentleman enjoying his glass of wine at an outdoor cafe

It's a little blurry 'cause was taken on the stealth

And this picture just cracked me up...I'll let you figure out why

Now for a little color......first shot is of a Murano glass display, second is from a mask display, both popular items in Venice.

These are from the market...I love the outdoor markets in Europe!!

Bridges, canals, buildings, and bars

Finding a bar in Venice is about as elusive as finding Guinness in Playa

(well, maybe not so much anymore, but you get my point) The hotels have bars, but pretty much everything else is a cafe, and not much in between. When we saw this bar/pub and its TWO stools, I had to take a picture as proof...and have a beer to make sure it wasn't something else

A nice evening spread on St. Marks Square with the sunset colors lighting up the cathedral

One of the ongoing jokes we had on the trip once we got to Croatia and prices normalized was that we needed to go back to Venice because we'd accidently left something there. As in all of our money

Gorgeous pics, Ami!

I had a pigeon "episode" in Venice too, but did not have such a graceful picture (because of the flailing and yelping!) Keep it coming!!
