Visiting in December
My husband and I are visiting Playa in December and would like any input on places to visit during the day. We have been there once and went to Xel-Ha and Tulum. I'm not too interested in going back to see the ruins. We want some great beach front restaurants and/or bars that are outside of Playa. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Also, is Akumal worth visiting or are there other small towns that would be a fun day trip to visit. Any info would be appreciated.

Have you been over to Cozumel? We were in Playa last Dec & went over & rented a Jeep & toured the island. As far as Akumal we loved it.....but then we were at a Childrens Christmas party so how could one not love it!
Have fun! |

Along the coast there are some great beachfront stops, including Oscar y Lalo's in Soliman Bay & Casa Cenote in Tankah. Akumal is a great place to spend a day- Yal ku Lagoon, La Buena Vida, Lol Ha.....
Xpu Ha is another nice beach. mastequilapf is right, too- Tulum has some great beachfront restaurants/bars. And I'm another fan of Cozumel's east side. A fun day trip is take the ferry over, snorkel at some place like Dzul Ha, then make your way around the island hitting a few beach bars. We like to rent a vw bug for the day, but others prefer hiring a driver. |

Wiped out?
Caramba is this true? I was planning a stop there...Rumour has it - and if anyone knows for sure please hop in here. When I was down 2 wks ago - apparently Oscar Y Lalos is no more. My neighbour told me that it received some effects of Dean and was wiped out by a 14' wave surge and the owner was not planning on rebuilding. This is very sad if its true and hopefully it can be proved untrue by someone having gone there since Dean We loved that place.
