Fully support your right to that decision, but if everyone felt that way, who would we be saving the Earth for?

Buy organic (dairy, veggies, when I can)

That is debatable (whether it is really 'environmentally friendly' or just a trendy, niche market for the richy rich. )

But I will refrain, Steve wants to keep it civil.

That's pretty doubtful that 'everyone is going to feel that way' isn't it?

A few billion more who did, wouldn't hurt though.

Of course using less chemicals is environmentally friendly--ier.....particularly fewer herbicides and insecticides..not so much with the fertilizers....but I digress..or is that pro-gress? ..peace Riss...

You lookin at me, Riss?

In the summer I buy a lot of local, farmer's market produce. But I buy organic for health reasons as well (hormone free milk, chicken, ect.) Many organic companies explain their farming philosophies: no pesticides, small batches, cruelty free for animals, and even more donate a lot to charities (Newman's a big one.)

I guess it has become trendy, but if you read about the way a lot of things are produced it would gross you out.

Sure Jacko, in theory, it sounds like a good plan...til you actually do some simple mathematics and find you would need thousands of Earths to grow enough food organically to feel the almost 6 billion we have today.
It's just an impractical pipe dream for the population on the global scale.

Now if you are Joe Schmo from Idaho and have a few acres and can grow your own organic food and sell some on the side, yippee...and to hell with the crappy crop yields because you are charging an arm and a leg for it ...it's a really good thing.
I mean hell, I grow my veggies organically and they are dang tasty.

We live on the north end of Hood Canal in Wa state & get all the trash that is thrown in the bay by our "eco minded" friends to the south. (3 big marinas & lots of boat ramps down that way.)
Beer cans, styrofoam cups, plastic food wrappers, ect ect ect. You name it, we get it, about a ton a year I would guess.
I have never weighed it but have picked it up for the past 25 years.
Seems the same folks that are crying for cleaner air & water only do so during the week. Weekends come & they forget to practice what they have been preaching.
