UK Schools must warn of Gore climate film bias

Schools must warn of Gore climate film bias | the Daily Mail
Schools will have to issue a warning before they show pupils Al Gore's controversial film about global warming, a judge indicated yesterday.

The move follows a High Court action by a father who accused the Government of 'brainwashing' children with propaganda by showing it in the classroom.

Stewart Dimmock said the former U.S. Vice-President's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, is unfit for schools because it is politically biased and contains serious scientific inaccuracies and 'sentimental mush'.

He wants the video banned after it was distributed with four other short films to 3,500 schools in February.

Mr Justice Burton is due to deliver a ruling on the case next week, but yesterday he said he would be saying that Gore's Oscar-winning film does promote 'partisan political views'.
This means that teachers will have to warn pupils that there are other opinions on global warming and they should not necessarily accept the views of the film.
He said: 'The result is I will be declaring that, with the guidance as now amended, it will not be unlawful for the film to be shown.'

At least the Brits have a brain. Here in Minneapolis, our students are shown this film and are led to believe that "it is truth, and nothing but the truth". No attempt is made to show that it represents opinion and is riddled with factual errors.

My 9 year old grandson came home in tears, after watching this drivel, because he was afraid his Aunt Nikki, who lives in California, was going to drown in 20 feet of water. The teacher, who is an alarmist, made no effort to clear the matter up for him.

I remember in third grade when we were told......by the time we were old enough to drive.....there would be no oil left.......oh and the other one......that everything was going to go metric......seems the only ones that converted to metric were the drug dealers and liquor companies

Well, it's about time you switched then, isn't it?

I like that 'sentimental mush' part...it certainly has a lot of that!

I am not so sure it is something that should be viewed in schools, warning or no warning.

Now, the Planet Earth BBC series, THAT is something that should be viewed in school!

Don't let that stop you from progress!

(in my job, you guys still using imperial really sucks...I write manuals, and I always have to have both measurements in there, and it is a big pain.)
