Well, I have a blog. But it's a very blah blah personal blog. and I'm almost embarassed to post it now that everyone is talking about writers being discovered, etc. because most of what I write I don't think about or re-read...it just kinda' comes out and goes on and probably sounds like shite.

I had started blogging on the advice of someone who told me it would be good for me to get some stuff out of my head, ya' know? I had it in another place that wasn't live anymore, and you're thread today Heather got me going to move it back onto a live blog site where I can start adding to it again.

Feel free to check it out, but be warned, it's not all that happy a place.

No blog here......
I used to blog on myspace- esp. when I was working in the clinic and didn't have time to get in touch with my friends that often.
But later I started feeling...... weird about it all being "out there" and went back to writing my normal diary....

I do it when I want to. When I started I felt like I needed to write something every week or two, but then I went a long time without posting anything. Since I wanted to make it mostly about our slow movement toward Mexico, there are times when that is real slow.

Then the eyesight thing started moving back to the foreground, but I didn't write a lot about that. Sometimes it seems a bit narcisstic, though, to be putting too much of one's life out there.

I do like putting photos on the website - and a lot of that is to share them with family and friends or to post there here.

I have done some writing on other sites, mostly discussion boards. There are several that I am a regular on, more as a lurker and occasional writer now - mostly having to do with investing in specific companies or sectors. A couple of years ago I got a couple of "Posts of the Day" on The Motley Fool site, but it is a pay site and I quit paying to be part of that large place.

Sometimes it feels like something else - sometimes I think it is part of the human drive to be known in a way that goes beyond the narrow boxes into which we sometimes rather easily put each other in these electronic areas of life.

soon everyone will have a blog
no one will have time to read a blog
because they will be all consumed by their own blog

....but i don't have a blog

edit:
and why are blogs the wave of the future?
i don't get it

Heather, when I taught 4th grade I had a quote from Gary Paulsen on my classroom door, "Accomplishments are nothing, it's the journey that matters." It was always exciting to watch people read the quote and then gauge their reaction.

Your words about writing for the joy of writing are not lost on me. I have thought about starting a blog and this thread has encouraged me to think harder about it. Combining writing and photography would be enjoyable. Hmmm...

Most importantly, thanks for the link to your blog. You put me right in the grocery store as you helped pick out boxed wine and waited in line.
