Weather forecast for October 13-20

Hi all,
Words cannot express how excited I am to visit Playa Del Carmen with my wife next week. I just looked at the 10 day weather forecast and it says scattered thunderstorms each and every day. Is this normal for the region? Will it actually rain for a bit each day? any words of encouragement would be appreciated... thanks to all. love the site.

Here's an example of a "scattered thunderstorm." Saturday, I was driving on the highway. My side of the road was completely dry and not raining. The lanes in the opposite direction were soaking wet. Over all of us, there was bright sunshine. Similarly... I was caught in a downpour in Puerto Aventuras... home, 2 miles away, still dry. Pouring when I came out of the store in Playa, dry on the way home, intermittent sprinkles at home. And all of this has a combo of bright blue skies and white puffy clouds and ominous dark clouds far over the ocean. It just means that the folks in the next bay could be getting soaked while you're lying in nothing but bright sunshine all afternoon. OR, it could mean that the weather forecast is totally screwed and it's not raining anywhere. Bottom line, don't worry about it, you'll have a great vacation!

EDIT: This is today's forecast: Mixed clouds and sun with scattered thunderstorms. High 88F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%. Right now, it's bright blue skies and nothing but sun, but I won't be surprised to have some rain this afternoon, sometime.

Thank you Susie. It would just be aweful to have it rain for our first real vacation away without kids. (10 year anniversary)

I'll be in PDC in about 6 hours. Not worried about the weather at all. I like the occasional shower and it seldom lasts very long.

thanks acco. i cant wait be be in PDC. We were told to take the ferry over to Cozumel for a day. thoughts? is it worth it?

Here's to hoping the rain stops.......soon!!!! We arrive on the 14th and if it does rain... I can think of one or two other things for hubby and I to do during our vacation! Celebrating my 40th and our wedding anniversary!
