Please, please nominate Hillary!
There is a HUGE different between slinging mud at those in power and slinging mud at EACH OTHER, do you not see this?

I've NEVER had a problem with any rightie that wants to criticize Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary, etc. (Sometimes I even join in, if I agree with the sentiment!) My ONLY problem is when posters on this board attack each other! THAT is what I strive to avoid, and even though I'm not 100% successful ALL the time, I think I come pretty close. And when I fail, I will own up and apologize. All in all, I'm pretty damned proud of my conduct on here and I'm pretty damned proud of the conduct of MOST of the posters on here, both right and left.

I apologize. I don't have to GO to DailyKos for my daily dose of venom, vitriol and virulence. This thread has become DailyKos.

Keep it up, folks, it's fun watching you guys.

Please, please, pleeease nominate Hillary!

Please provide quotes of what you consider the venom, vitriol and virulence here.

Also be aware that by the time some of us reach our mid to late 50's, anything that sounds like virile can't be considered all bad

The funny thing is that the way things are going for her and for the hapless Republican candidates, the optimistic veneer on conservatives saying "please nominate Hillary" is wearing dangerously thin for them, methinks.

I would disagree with Mr. Krugman – President Bush seems to have no classic conservative values. The size of government has vastly expanded under his tenure. intrusions on personal freedoms are a hallmark of his presidency. Due process is a term the Bushie’s consider traitorous. The no child left behind scam chips away at states rights and empowers big government. No need to even discuss “avoid foreign entanglements” – his record speaks for itself.

I agree with you - but remember that Krugman said a modern movement conservative, not a classical conservative. The christian right wing, for example, is in many ways not at all exemplary of classical conservatism.

What, are you trying to comment on topic or something?

Don't forget the ballooning debt. Or is fiscal irresponsibility now considered a "traditional" conservative trait, after the records of the past couple of decades?

Steve

Reminds me not only a lttle of this Time article from Dec. 29 1930.Excuse for a Deficit - TIME

I understand why people discount he word "fascism" when they read or hear it. I was the same way in the 70's when people used it under Nixon, and in the 80's when people used it to label Reagan.

Now is the time to call a turd a turd, as we say in Texas. This man Bush is practicing a type of corporate fascism that FDR warned us about years ago here:
Quote:
" The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to the point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group or any controlling private power. "
