Peace Tower in Iceland/John Lennon Memorial

Yesterday on the birthday of John Lennon they lit the Peace Tower here in Iceland near Reykjavik.
Yoko Ono, Ringo Starr, Sean Lennon and Olivia (widow of George Harrison) came here to turn on the light.
It stays on from Lennons birthday until the day of his murder.

I do not know who paid for it. If it was Yoko great, she has enough to spend. If it was the tax payers of Iceland, then it is up to you to tell your government what you want your tax kroners spent on.

All in all I think its great, and great for Iceland that Yoko choose to put it there

I read about this yesterday. I think it's a fantastic symbolic gesture. Whether it makes any difference or not...who knows?

Sunny, I think it is a great idea to remember him. It IS unsual that Yoko Ono chose Iceland though and I can understand that you feel honoured over there!

This is wonderful!

I'm all in favour of more peace memorials. I hope that in the future there will be more such memorials and fewer that reference man's inhumanity to his fellow man.
