Nba 2007-2008

Rumors, rumors, rumors

Rumors: Kobe Bryant will be traded away from the Lakers by Oct 31, 2007.

The owner and the owner's kids are done with him. Apparently it's up to Phil Jackson as the deciding vote. Kobe has been dogging it in practice and pre-season games, whereas he looked spectacular playing for the USA national team just one month ago. Kobe took 3 days off of practice, and Phil told him to go somewhere other than the gym floor to ride his stationary bicycle (ala T.O.), because he was a distraction looking for attention. I think he can opt out of his contract at the end of this year; certainly he will opt out. Nothing has changed with Kobe since his first day in a Laker uniform, nor will it be different for any other team he plays for. Something to be said for going to a good disciplined college program. Kobe will never be MJ.

He's a superstar looking for team with a "potential". Unfortunately, no one in La-La Land can match his potential and/or desire to succeed (including Mr. Jackson). I wouldn't mind to see him play with say, Iverson or McGrady...

Team to beat this year - Boston

Rumor: The Nuggets, namely Carmelo and AI, are stressing defense this year.

Playoffs are shaping up to be real good this year, at least in the West.

East will be either Detroit or Boston.
West, who knows.

If the Lakers have Bynum back and in playing form by the playoffs they have a good shot of going all the way. Without Bynum, I don't think they get past the Spurs. You don't win without a big man.

The Blazers have already won as many games as the did last year.

Next year they have that new big fellow from Ohio State- Oden or something spelled similar to that.

Blazers are a good team, good coach. They have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs. If they were in the East they'd be in the playoffs.

Spurs and Lakers need to watch out for the Rockets, those guys are playin lights out right now, New Orleans has been hot all year too....... Spurs are still conserving energy and experimenting with different lineups every game........ Dallas???..... well, Dallas is kicking themselves in the ass for trading away their playoff hopes for a washed up point guard named Kidd

my call..... Spurs and Rockets in the Western Conference Finals, toss up to call the winner there...... Boston takes the East

Rockets are playing lights out, but I'd be surprised if they can hold together through the playoffs.

How about that Suns trade? They've proved small doesn't work and they need a big man, but Shaq? He'll be broken down by playoff time.

two players that really caused bad matchups for the Spurs were Diop of the Mavs and Marion for the Suns.......... Marion was the ONLY player on the Suns that had a clue about defense (weak attempt to conjure up my old friend Rixx!!!)

Lakers last night blew out the Clippers, not a big deal, but even Coby Karl and Mbenga got in the game and scored 6 points each. Games like this are good, get to rest the stars Kobe and Gasol.

Spurs got blown away last nite in Denver.... tough place to play a 2nd game of a back to back, they ran outta gas in the 2nd half, and another back to back starts tomorrow in Phx......... Pop is limiting our starters to 32 minutes or less, down from 36 minutes last year....... deep benches are a good thing

Back to backs are tough. Good for Popovich limiting the minutes, it has worked in the past it will continue to work. Deep benches are good. The Lakers have a very good bench, but they didn't do well in Portland a few nights ago on the tail end of a back to back, Kobe had to pull that one out. I forgot about our backup forward still out Trevor Ariza, he should be ready in a few weeks to come back.
