Suggestions for an all-inclusive resort?
My girlfriend and I are considering going to Playa del Carmen next year, and we're looking for a good all-inclusive resort.
We're looking for: * White beaches * Clear water * Clean rooms with good bathrooms * 4 stars? * Close to the beach, preferably right next to the hotel * Pool * Possibility of taking diving classes (PADI?) nearby We were looking a bit at The Reef Playacar, but I've found a couple of fairly negative reviews about it, so now I'm not sure anymore. I'm 27 and she's 24, from Norway, and we basically just want to go somewhere to relax, swim, eat good food and lay in the sun most of the day. We also want to visit the Mayan ruins while we're there. So, any suggestions? |

I know Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal has all of that, including an on site PADI dive school where I got certified.
![]() The only thing is that it's a 5 star... You don't have to worry about dive schools, though. There are plenty of reliable dive schools nearby, no matter which resort you'll go to. |

I assume from your post you want to go all inclusive. That being the case, Playacar is a good choice. I would look at the Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal or possibly Sandos next door which is smaller. Both have excellent beaches and our experience with both have been great. You won't regret choosing Playa del Carmen for your vacation. Warning, you just might get hooked like the rest of us.

Id say the Royal. Its right in town and the place is amazing! I dont know about a dive place there but you can arrange it through them. The beach was really nice and the whole resort was beautiful. My TR has some pics of the place and of the rooms.

Haha, I wasn't expecting this quick of a reply. And so many!
![]() Anybody got links to these places? Or can I find them on this site (at work here, so I can't really poke around that much). And does anyone have some good pictures of the beaches in Playa del Carmen? |

Bingo! Correct answer!
![]() There's tons of info to be found, and the best way on how to find it is explained here: Search Function 101 Or you could use Google Advanced and let it only return results from the site or domain "Playa.Info" |

hhmm...let's see if this link works. Here's a little video I just made with some pics from last week! I'm sure there is something I am forgetting to do here, please bear with me. These are just a few of my favorite shots from that week. Enjoy!

I'd suggest the Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal as well. It is a truly tropical experience. Look through my trip report here (below) and you'll see a lot of pictures! You won't be sorry with this resort, it's romantic and dynamic and tropical all in one!
Wait, where'd my trip report go???? Sorry it seems to be gone. I'll try and find it and reattach it. |
