Cleaning a Glass Cooktop

I'm used to cooking on a gas range and now have a glass cooktop. Any suggestions on how to clean the surface?

They make a special cleaner that is non abrasive. Looks sort of like soft scrub.

Look in the manual that came with it. They will let you know what you can and can't use on it. I would go by what they say--if nothing else, because of the warranty.

Be very careful, some products scratch.

You need a special glass top cleaner. You can find it at most big stores like home depot , lowes atc. I worked in appliance parts for a while and saw how some people really screwed up many a nice cooktop.

I have a gas cooktop that is a glass cooktop... never knew they made such a thing til we went to convert from gas to electric and our electrician told us No Dice without a big hunk o' money being spent... so we just bought a new gas one instead and it's a flat top glass thing... love it... I just use antibacterial Windex to clean it... makes it shiny, kills the germs and won't scratch it...

if it's got a build up of spillover from something I cooked, I use liquid dishsoap and water from the sink and wash it first... then use the Windex...

cheap paper towels work better for wiping it off as the "softer" ones tend to flake off and leave linty residue behind....

I know. That is what I am afraid of. Thanks you guys.....I'll take a look during my next Home Depot trip.

I have to say. I haven't had much trouble adjusting from the gas to the glass. I was afraid I was going to have a weeks worth of burned food.

I didn't even know those existed. What differences have you noticed glass vs. gas?

this is gas with glass! as opposed to those deep pocket things that the old gas one had... the frame thing lifts off from over the gas burners... and there are no grooves or pockets--just a flat glass/ceramic top...
looks like this (except mine only has 4 burners, not the 5th one in the middle)

I dunno... I was so sick of cleaning out the troughs around the burners on the old stove... it never looked clean... so I wanted one of those easy wipe electric cooktops... but not for the mega bucks it would have taken to run the 220 line to my stove (original homeowners didn't have the wiring done for that underneath)... so we went out looking and lo and behold there it was... it's a JennAir...
