HI, newbie with some questions
Hi. I am new here and looking for information. My husband, myself, and our close friends are planning our first Mexico vacation. We have never stayed at an all-inclusive resort before. We will be traveling from either Milwaukee or Ohare, depending on flight times, price, etc. Our tentative travel date, which is fairly flexible at this time, is 5/3-5/10 2008.
After researching the past few weeks, we think that we want to stay relatively close to Playa del Carmen. We really don't sit and veg too much, or at least we haven't in the past. So I think we need to have at least some options if my husband gets really ansy. I have seen some posts about the Grand Sunset Princess that will be opening in the next few months and some of the prices people are quoting seem really amazing. So, I guess some of my questions are: Should we risk thinking about booking a relatively unknown resort for our first trip to PDC? We are hoping to keep our budget around 15-1600pp, 7-night stay. Is it worth the upgrade to say, Platinum suite, if we were to get a great price somewhere? What are your experiences booking online, or would you use a travel agent, at least our first trip there? A bit about ourselves. The four of us have traveled a lot together and enjoy the same things. We aren't really hard to please, but would really enjoy a nice room, decent food, a great beach and maybe some on-site activites. If we were to choose a place farther from PDC, is it a hassle to get there? Would you purchase the price protection trip insurance, and does it really work? Thanks so much for any help/advice. |

Try Gran Porto Real. Great location(in town) and in your price range. Sounds like you are booking through Funjet? If I did AI again we would be stay there. In Playacar I would check out RIU Yucatan. If you want an amazing beach try Barcelo. $20 cab ride to Playa. Good Luck!
