Thanks for the kind words on my pictures! I just play with my camera...I don't want to even try to be in the same league as many on this site! Some folks on here are amazing with a camera. Me..I just play and take lost of pics of whatever I enjoy! Jodie...I'd be happy to send you a pm with pics if you want! I feel so calm and refreshed whenever I'm near the ocean, and Mexico...amazing! Thanks again, I'm glad someone else enjoyed them!

The beach at the Tucan/Quetzal is one of the better beaches in the Yucatan...Plenty of chairs, etc...
My wife and I got married on the beach there in Feb 2007. It was absolutely perfect. If you're concerned about the beach, no need to be. It was groomed every morning and it was some of the best sand I've ever come across. We took a day trip to Cozumel and rented scooters. We stopped in at the Iberostar on Cozumel (you can utilize their facilities for free since you're staying at the Tucan/Quetzal) and swam and drank there as well. The resort seemed much more casual, and the beach was definitely not as nice as the Tucan. All in all, would definitely stay at the Tucan/Quetzal again. Staff was fantastic! |

Michael,
Thank you. We were there for the week before and after Hurricane Wilma. Do you recall if one of those hurricane buoys was on top of the coral about a half mile down the beach? Before the hurricane there was only one buoy and then after that one was maybe 15 vertical feet up on top of the coral from where it was and another had appeared... Thank you for the pictures, it just reminds me of how wonderful Playa is and how much I miss it. A few more posts like that should get me through until March!!!!!!! PL |

I'm glad that others have enjoyed the pictures! As you can well imagine, we had a wonderful time in Playa in October...just wish we were back there as a second snow storm is heading to CT tomorrow night
. The buoy was about a 1/2 mile down the beach toward the deserted beach past the Sandos...it was the only one on the shore. Enjoy Playa in March....and have a Margarita for me! Or....a jack daniels for hubby!

We never saw them with their feathers opened up.....they were always strutting around..but never open. I kept my camera with me but never had the chance to get the beautiful shot that you did!! Just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

can you go to other iberostars with your quetzal/tucan bracelet? when we stayed at the beach at IB Paraiso, we were able to go an IB in Cozumel (I think it was Coz) for food/drinks so long as it was before 6pm... do you get the same option staying at either of the IB resorts in Playa? we're kicking around hitting up the Tucan in late april or early may but would like to spend a day in cozumel

Yes, you can stay at Tucan/Quetzal and visit IB Cozumel for the day. I am not sure about the other resorts. If the seas aren't too rough, we will be making this journey with 4 aduts and 4 kids this early March.
