I heard "Blue Christmas" last week on the way to work last week.
Christmas decorations have been up in the mall for a few weeks ! I just want to just escape to some place tropical and forget all about it. (I do like Christmas music just not in October). |

I love it!!! I can't wait to start hearing Xmas music around here! I get so ticked off when on Dec 26th the stations stop playing the carols. I am Xmas crazy though, will be decorating my house on Grey Cup weekend instead of watching football! We decortate every room but the bedrooms pretty much, takes at least 2 days to do but we all love it! I find it gets me in the mood to do some baking and start to think about presents etc. Just seems to make everyone feel a bit better about things. A person needs something to look forward to so you can get thru the bad times. We are not a big gift family either, we just love to get together, play games, eat, drink and be merry!! Hopefully creating some traditions that our kids will carry forward to their own families in the future. We still have presents, but we don't buy for extended family, just the 6 of us and our kids draw names and have so much fun trying to find the perfect gift for their sibling. My fav's are the homemade treasures they give me, I'm sure they have a contest to see who can make mom cry the hardest!
I think too many people have made Christmas into something that it is not. It is not about what you get or give but who you spend your time with and what you can do to make someone else's day a bit better. Likely why so many people are so bah humbug about it! |

I know. Sometimes I wonder why they don't leave the darn things up all year round. I think it was sometime in August when I saw Halloween and Thanksgiving things. Then two weeks ago I saw the Christmas section in Macys, but not the entire store. I kind of woke up this morning thinking "I NEED TO START shopping." ![]() |

I try to not let the commercial aspect of it get me down, and to keep that "childlike" feeling about Christmas. It's my favourite time of year. Christmas was also my father's favourite time as well, so I honour his memory by keeping up some of the traditions and LOVE the season. Gotta start thinking about the treats I'll bake to give as gifts, the sewing we do (for gifts also), and decorating the house. My daughter woke up this morning and said, "it already feels like Christmas. When can we decorate?",lolI'm getting the family room chairs reupholstered (needed to do this the last three years ), so that is adding to the excitement...the preparation. Yeah, I love Christmas![]()

It seems like it all starts earlier and earlier every fall.
Christmas is just such a busy, over-commercialized, rush-rush-rush and spend-spend-spend time of year. We don't really get that much into it, but some of it is inescapable. ![]() bah humbug indeed! ![]() |
