Not so obscure, I guess, but one of my all-time favorite bands. Certainly one of the greatest live bands I've ever seen and, uh, Greg Dulli does it for me big time. I like the swagger, I guess. *shrug*

There's a lot of live Afghan Whigs on youtube, but the audio wasn't so good, so I chose this.

Awesome thread...great stuff...I have been in this thread for about 45 minutes now, I am addicted!!

Here is one of the sexiest voices I know...her regular video of this song has her with a hat on backwards (and a faster version)...damn hot!

Had a tough time finding a video of any quality of The Gourds doing the Snoop Dogg cover Gin and Juice. Makes me smile every time I hear it. I wonder what Snoop thinks of it.

I think on the Gourds website, they had a video clip of Snoop Dogg checking out the Courds version. At least they used to a few years back. What great band The Gounds are. Would love to see them live.
Likwise with Ryan Adams.

One of the greatest pop bands ever, IMHO. Broke up after only one album, but still one of my favorite albums of all time. Saw them on their only US tour, at the 9:30 Club in DC.
Two songs. Second one was a hit, especially in TV commericals.

This is RAW!!.......

I think I heard Cozy Powell playing drums with Peter Green on the latter's return from demented gravedigging into blues. Tunbridge Wells, Uk some years ago.
Or maybe I overheard some pothead talking about Cozy. I dunno, passive smoking affects me greatly.

I wonder if when Woody wrote this song he imagined it might be topical today:

Did anyone say obscure Dylan video?:

Keeping with the somewhat obscure Uncle Tupelo "where are they now" direction...

For Joana...

Impossible Germany by Wilco

With no larger problems
That need to be erased
And nothing more important
Than to know someone's listening
Oh I know you're still listening

The difficulty is that while the 80s didn't feature the best music of any decade, the 80s did feature the best videos of any decade (despite the musical and/or video technique trappings)...

David Bowie & Queen, of course

Art of Noise

Adrian Belew

Talk Talk

Cocteau Twins (technically 1990, perhaps)

Steve

Well or even before the 80s, in some cases.

John Lennon

Stevie Wonder & friends

Steely Dan

Pink Floyd (OK, technically 1980 here, too)

I'd like to add this one to Steve's (excellent) eighties list:

Herbie Hancock - "Rock It"

Good one!

More, too:

Peter Gabriel, with the creepy lamps:

or of course the rather less obscure

But is there in the end a video that's much more fun to watch than this one?

Run-DMC & Aerosmith

Possibly Neil Young & The Shocking Pinks doing "Everybody's Rockin'" but I can't find that anywhere...
