I really want to go to Key West. Tammy had relatives that use to live there so she has been there. (Her uncle trained "Flipper")

it's a very unique place to say the least

....we always rent bicycles and ride up and down and all around.....I just love all the Conch Houses!

Still day 2: So we've found Margaritaville @ Universal's City Walk. We walk in like we own the place

It's a huge restaurant! They broadcast the Sirius Radio Show on the Margaritaville Channel here every week on certain days.

There is a big stage for all the performing bands and just lots of cool things to look at...you know tons of Jimmy Buffett memorabilia.

We wandered around to one of the many bar areas and to our surprise we got to watch Florida Gators Football....only problem is they were beat by Georgia

!
Some of you may not know it but Harold and I both were born in Florida...he in Miami and I in St Petersburg...so Florida is in our blood

We are bonified "Florida Crackers"

Love your TR! I myself am VP of our Utah PH Club and have never had the opportunity to attend MOTM, so I'm living vicariously through your report (as well as the stories told from club members who've attended).
I also love your signature SLUT (southern ladies....etc.) - since we are in Salt Lake, Utah our club t-shirts say Parrothead SL,UT on them!!

Oct 28th Sunday

The following day it was time to continue our journey. It was a glorious sunny day and hot

We had one more lay over in Key Largo before reaching Key West. Harold wanted to stop by one of his favorite places Alabama Jacks. Now you may think it a little silly that being from Alabama we would travel all this way to the Keys and want to stop at a place called Alabama Jacks but let me tell you they have the best Conch fritters you'll ever eat

Alabama Jacks is what I would describe as a road house except it is open air and sits on a bay front/canal with mangroves all around. It is about the most out of the way place in The Florida Keys and how we found it the first time remains a mystery to me but we did. Quite often you'll see Manatees floating by while you are there which we did the last time we visited. This time around saw some interesting sights but no manatees. Here are a few shots of Alabama Jack's.

David, you would like it a lot. We went there (actually stayed in Key Largo), in 1993. I loved it I want to go back again. Soon.

After an afternoon at Alabama Jacks it was time to head to Key Largo.
One prerequisite for a motel choice was that we NOT stay at the Howard Johnsons. We had stayed there once a few years ago on a dive trip and it was Horrible! The mattresses were worn out along with everything else. The only redeeming factor were the playful manatees who hang out in the bay behind the place.
So with these criteria n mind I found a wonderful looking hotel on Expedia rated 4 Stars by those who choose to write a review and the price was right! SOLD...with reservation in hand we set out to find the place.
We found it w/o too much trouble only had to circle round once

As we turned in the drive Harold said "Is this the old Howard Johnson?" NO! I said you know I didn't want to stay at the Howard Johson and this place looks way too good to be the Howard Johnson.
We go in to register. Harold ask the desk clerk, "Is this the old Howard is!. Johnson?" YES it

...so OK we're staying at the old Howard Johnson but as it turned out the place was absolutely amazing! Here are the pics
