What are they digging for?

Yesterday day and today there has been a hole dug out near the water. I saw them dumping a wheelbarrow of something in the hole and then cover up yesterday.

Hole is back today. Any ideas?

That is what they do with all of the seaweed and stuff that they rake up.
I am not sure of how good of a system it is but the beach there is great on top. It may actually help keep the beach together, not sure.
But, as a guy who spends time there using a metal detector it has caused some grief when an aluminum can gets buried and poor old me tries to dig it up.

They used to do the seaweed bury at Akumal Beach Resort. They stopped about 3 years ago.

Metal detecting? Anything old or mostly new stuff?

Nuttin' old at all.

I was hoping for a few older trinkets. Nothing but new stuff. Tons of pesos, a few quarters, some Canadian and a few other coins from all parts of the world.
Here is a pic of a long weeks worth of hunting:

Thought there might be more keys. In the early 90's my family was in Ft. Walton Beach, FL over spring break. There was a guy with a metal detector that just had his nail apron full of hotel keys. He said the hotels would pay him $10/per key. He was not willing to share what else he found. Maybe spring breakers are not as responsible as vacationers are in the RM?

Something strange going on.....

looks like employees are coming up to people lying on their lounges and moving them left down towards the beach.

Maybe a wedding coming up? Must be something, because no one seems to be giving them a hard time about it.

Keep tuned in.!

sifting the sand for treasures?

there are three guys dumping sand on what appears to be a sand screen. i've never seen this activity on the web cam before. looks like it is in the same area that the chairs are placed everyday. do you think they are randomly searching for lost objects or for a specific item that was lost?
i'll capture a picture and post it if i can remember how.

They will find at least a few pesos!

One can only imagine the wealth under the sand. My guess is they will come up with about 3 pounds of bottle caps, 40 pesos and hopefully whatever they are looking for.
