drinking water at Reef Club Playacar

We are planning at trip to the Reef Club in October with 2 children, 11, and 14. It is nice to see the name Reef Club pop up because I feel, looking at the forum, as if no one stays there. Kinda leaves you feeling like you might have made a bad choice. I have read some other internet posting and just like anywhere, some people seem to like it and some don't, depending on what you are expecting. The last site I visited real gave it a very good recommendation.

I have gotten confused on the drinking water situation there. So if anyone can answer for me, that would be great. I read that the resort has purified drinking water, but somewhere else I read they charge you $1.00 for bottled water. I thought the bottled water would be included in the AI price. Will we have to buy bottled water to brush our teeth? What about the coffee, and juices and ice? Safe to drink? Sorry, but I have never ever been out of the country and am as green as can be.

Drinking water is a topic that has been discussed quite alot on the forum. Try the handy search function, then build upon what you find with follow-up questions. That way the forum works best.

Most of the AI's and large hotels have RO water systems. Water isn't the problem for most people. It's eating too much, drinking too much alcohol, too much sun, not hydrating well, and experiencing a change to the system that can throw it off. I got the Hershey squirts when I went home to good old "safe" USA a couple weeks ago, drinking the tap water I grew up on. It's easy to blame the water but it's not that simple in most cases.

Oh my god James, you drank the water in Baltimore? Probably ate bay crabs as well, tsk tsk.

Coesey -
Drink bottled water lots of it, 3 times as much as you do at home. Buy some at a store, it will be cheaper than the PR if they do not provide it. There is a little tienda two blocks (10th ave) away from the beach, turn right mid block from your hotel. Brush your teeth with bottled, everything else will be fine.

now remember this formula:
I drink (booze, wine or beer)
1 bottle of water

and you will be fine.

I've brushed with good old Playa city water three times a day for over 5 years now.

water in room

Yeah, I was wondering if we could (or would it be a social no-no) to buy a small styrofoam cooler and bottled water at the grocery and keep in the room. I drink ALOT of water, always a bottle (of water...usually) in my hand.

Thanks for any tips you can throw my way.

What about these sea lice things? Any problem in October?

Reef Club Water

My wife and I just returned from the Reef Club on the 20th of June. We enjoyed our stay quite a bit. I can attest to the safty of the water - it does however have a slight sulfer oder to it. Every thing is safe for you on the resort so no worries. Our disapointment was that they do not supply a mini fridge in your room and you have to request an ice bucket. Along with that they are very stingy with the rental equipment at the beach.
Hope this information was helpful, if needed, email me with any more questions.

water at reef club playacar

Hola -

FYI, the water used at hotels & restaurants here is always purified, they wouldn't risk getting tourists sick. The Reef Club provides bottles of water (because some prefer them) in the rooms for a small charge - I think $1.00 each.

We were there a year ago, the grounds were wonderfully kept, the room was wonderful, however, I didn't like the "gratuity" I had to pay to get the room I requested. Everthing at this resort was wonderful with the exception of the food. I have to admit, we had been warned before we arrived, so it wasn;t a problem. We were close enough to Playa to enjoy the many nice food choices in town. We also found out the Domino's delivers to the Reef. The last night we were there, my daughter wasn't feeling well so we made the call to domino's.
