![]() Of course that all depends on where you eat and how much you drink!

Our typical day starts with coffee and breakfast, not a huge expense, especially on those days we eat at the carts by the bus station. Dang that's good food. For two people, I would estimate breakfast at $5- $10.
Then we hit the beach and lounge about drinking until lunch, then drink some more (no, we're not really lushes), it just feels so good to do nothing. For two people on the beach from say 10:30 until 4:00 I would estimate $40.00 for drinks and lunch. If you drink lots and lots, up that budget a bit. Then it's time to clean up and eat dinner. We prefer good local food to a fancy restaurant with lots of ambience. I would say a typical dinner for two including drinks would cost us $35.00-$40.00. Add it up and it's under $100.00. This does not include cab rides, excursions or shopping. We don't do a lot of that really. So, you really can do Playa with two people on $100 a day. If you plan on excursions, just up your budget a bit. There are some lovely places to go. In general, I don't think we are cheap, or deny ourselves much. It's just that you can do very well on a low budget here. Bear in mind that we do not for the most part eat on 5th. |

I have spent as little as $20 per day for 2 people - buying beer at Walmart and eating out only once per day at local spots...
and as much as $100 (total) a day for 2 people - Eating out every meal, and paying $3-4 each for beer and coctails. You would have to go on tours daily and buy LOTS of gifts to spend $300 a day (in my opinion) $150-$200 should be more than enough to do as much as you want without budgeting anything. |

Thanks Jan
, best advice stay away from 5th when eating and drinking, there are some really great places elsewhere which wont eat into your budget, 10th street between 5th ave and 10th ave is a good place to be

$100 a day always seems a little low to me. We spend less then that on some days but if your going to spend the day at the beach clubs, have lunch at the beach, eat at some of the nicer places on 5th, then hit the bars till morning I'd budget closer to $150 a day. Better to bring some money home then have to start counting your pesos the last couple of days.

lets do the math: 20 bucks equals 240 pesos 2 quarts of vodka at mega 48 pesos each large bottle of orange juice 38 1 roasted chicken at walmart,55 pesos 6 pack beer 38 pesos bread an eggs and rice and tomatoes 25 pesos..... so you can live pretty cheap, but it all depends on how you want to live, i go for 2 months but can afford to if i dont eat out everyday, i think it cost me around 10.00 canadian for food and beer on average last year.....enjoy |
