Fat Cat and Hotel Las Palapas
Hi all, Great site! Anyone vacationing during July 11-16 2003? We(my husband and I, in our 30's)are staying at Hotel Las Palapas, and this will be our first vaca in Mexico. We recently booked the fat cat tour, and we booked it without transport, since it looked like the only pick up was at the few hotels listed, so we figured if we needed to taxi to them, we will just taxi to the meeting point---is that correct, or does the transport pick up at Hotel Las Palapas? Also, we are trying to decide between inclusive dinner at the resort, or just hoping in to town to try various places-any recommedations? Thanks, can't wait to visit! Michele from CT, USA

We stayed at Las Palapas in March and absolutely loved it! It is a wonderful hotel and the beach was out of this world. We ended up doing half all-inclusives for dinner and the rest were in town. If we went again, we wouldn't do the all-inclusive because there are too many great places to eat in town. The walk into town is really quick - we never took a taxi unless it was late at night. The hotel did have some good meals (the barbecue and the Mexican buffet especially), but if you decide you want to stay for a dinner at the hotel, they'll just add it to your bill at the end.
Have a fantastic vacation! We can't wait to get back there. Michelle |

A taxi to Puerto Aventuras, the marina from which Fat Cat leaves, is about 11 dollars. A taxi in town is a buck and a half.
Las Palapas is very close to one of the pickup points, in any case. |

Hi Michele, I never stayed at las palapas, but I can tell you that no matter how good of a deal I got I would never stay all / inclusive. Playa has way to much to offer, great restaraunts, great bars, why would you want to limit yourself. And one of the great things about Playa is the prices, especially if you invest in a playa deal card, trust me you won't regret it.
ENJOY......... |
