Baby Grace

This story, that I've been paying attention to since it came to light a couple weeks ago, just chills me to the bone and sickens me. What kind of brain damage would a person have to have to do this to that tiny sweet child? So helpless and innocent. I don't think any punishment in the world is enough to make up for a crime like this one, short of subjecting them to the same horrible experiences little Riley suffered.

(This is one of the reasons I could stand to live in a news-free world. Wouldn't prevent this stuff from happening, but I wouldn't feel so helpless and heartsick, anyway.)

ugh, that is so unbelievable... and the name didn't help either... her real one or the nickname they gave the body...

I've never understood the beating of a baby... and really, at 2, they are still babies... or when you hear about sexual abuse on a baby... i'm sure there's some deep seated psychological issues at play, but it's so unfair and it breaks my heart...

Because of the time I spent in Mexico, I had not heard of this story until just yesterday. It's all over the news here. I cannot even get through this article without choking...it's horrible, disgusting, revolting, and heartbreaking...

I look at her picture and wonder what kind of monster can do this to their own child?

Ya know, I don't care if the man actually did it all himself, I hold the mother in SO much more contempt for allowing it to happen (though it sounds like she was involved). It's hard to even call her a mother because mothers are supposed to nurture and protect their offspring... I can't stop shuddering.

I have not read the story and I have turned the TV when it comes on. I do know that she was taken tragically, but I can't hear about it. Call it burying my head in the sand, but I can't handle stories about children. I watch SportsCenter and The Daily Show. That's about all the news I can handle anymore.

It is all over the news here everyday since the "parents" are local Houstonians. They (a local news station) interviewed the "mother" about a week before she was charged and sent to jail, to me it seemed like she wasn't really all that concerned.......I hope she rots......

edit: it's the "mother" and "step-father" from here (Spring, TX) the biological father (I believe) lives in Ohio.

This makes me sick. My wife and I had our daughter by invitro and to see someone take a childs life for granted is heart breaking. The torture this poor child endured makes you doubt there is a God. I hope they both get the death penalty.

Now that I'm a mom, I'm the same way. Not that I don't think terrible things happen but I just can't let myself hear about them.

Horrible for those family members who would have stepped in in a minute if they had been close enough, and had known enough, about the situation.

I can see getting to the point of striking a child ... sometimes the anger does just well up ... but I never struck either of my kids, because my better angels would always intervene ... as they do with most of us.

But this kind of systemic brutality is just horrible. Both adults are responsible, and I would give them both the death penalty. A 2-year-old dying of her own volition? Puh-leeze.

The abuse and killing of a child has to be the most horrifying thing...and it's just componded when it's a parent who does it....just so unbelieveable.

What monsters they are. How do you explain that, drugs, mental illness?

So far all the authorities have given us is that the couple met while playing "World of Warcraft". Maybe diaper changes or potty runs interfered with their world domination?
