What's your all time favourite book?

My all time favourite is The Time Travellers Wife by Augrey Niffenegger, closely followed by Lorelei's Secret by Carolyn Parkhurst.

What are your favourite ever reads?

The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, Tom Wolfe
Steppenwolf, Hermann Hesse
Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain

Way too many to list! Loved different books at different times of my life. They seem to "speak" to me according to what is going on with my life!
Some of the ones through the years with my kids...
A Wrinkle in Time
Secret Life of Bees
Bridge to Teribithia
Touching Spirit Bear
Star Girl

I'll post some other adult ones later!

Since I have so far not read any of the books mentioned....I would like to add to my original question -
And why are they you're favourites?

For me The Time Travellers Wife was just so romantic and despite the theme of the book the actual relationship seemed so realistic, I fell in love with the characters and the story and the way it was told was something different but worked well.

With Lorelei's Secret, I went into the book somewhat dubious, but again found that the portrayal of the love between these two people in such an imperfect relationship was amazing.

If a book makes me cry I tend to love it

Me too! I'll come up with some sobbers when I check my library at home. I'm at work now, so my mind is in a different mode.

(Thank you, BTW, threads like these keep me sane while I'm on hold with health insurance companies)!

I loved Watership Down!!

I also loved The Stand. I'm a huge King fan, that was by far one of my faves of his.

The House at Pooh Corner still makes me smile.

And Then There Were None, Agatha Christie.

The Pigman

To Kill a Mockingbird.

Lord of the Flies

The Stand is my all time favorite too! I was wondering if I'd make it to the bottom of the thread without seeing it mentioned.

I'll have to try that one.

Movies make me embarrass myself in public all the time. I get totally immersed in a movie, so if it's a tearjerker, I'm done in. I just watched Man On Fire with Denzel Washington for the 1st time. At the end, I was cyring uncontrollably. Luckily I was at home, and no on was there to witness it!

Talking of Winnie The Pooh:

Willie:
I'm formed and you're not. You have changes to go through. You'll change. And I'll be Winnie The Pooh to your Christopher Robin.
Marty:
No literary reference left unturned. How do you figure Pooh?
Willie:
Christopher Robin outgrew Pooh. That's how it ended. He had Pooh when he was a child.
When he matured, he didn't need him any more.
Marty:
That's the saddest thing I ever heard.
Willie:
Yeah, but it's true. You don't realize it now, but you'll be doing some changing. And... I can't be a Pooh.
