Salsa, kayaking, bookstores
I am a big Playa fan and will be heading down next week. This will be my eighth trip in ten years (last time was at Christmas), but this time I will be with my daughter, not my wife. Consequently, I am looking to do some different things. Of course, I know the seductive effect of the sun and margaritas, and I expect to slow down appreciably within a few days.
While still energized, we will be looking for some serious dancing including the Salsa, getting some kayaking lessons and finding a decent bookstore. Any suggestions on where to find these? I usually stay at Rosa Mirador, down by the ******, but they do not seem to be operational. Does anybody know what is happening there? Where else would we find a hotel so close to the beach and the action that is clean and bright and under $50? ![]() |

salsa, kayaking, bookstores
Paul, less than a block away from the Rosa Mirador is a nice little hotel called the Tropical Casa Blanca. I stayed there in Feb. this year and the rate was 400 pesos a night. The rooms had new air conditioners and they also have a nice pool. At that time the Rosa Mirador was open.

You sound like a cool dad!
While you're pre-planning all the fun stuff, keep in mind that there's certain paperwork you'll need to be travelling with your daughter, sans wife. I think your has to sign a notarized letter releasing you to take your daughter into Mexico. The State Department website has info; also, I know it's been discussed on these forums, but I have no idea what you would search under; maybe "travelling with kids" or "Paperwork". Have fun! |

Kayaking and bookstores, still looking
Thanks for the great feedback.
Teddy, I did find exactly what I needed for Salsa and Merengue and .. I feel the beat already. Jesus, I will check out Hotel Casa Blanca. I never book till I get there so I can make sure they're not tearing up the street and that the room meets my needs (e.g., prefer open windows and breezes to A/C). MWC, my daughter is over 21 so I am assuming that I will be OK. Thanks for thinking I am cool even though I am not. Based on the responses and my searching it seems that kayaking and bookstores are not plentiful. :x Whoever set up this website (and maintains it) deserves great accolades. Excellent job! Paul (and Kristina) |
