Right on, Mofi. That was more than I intended to say about that.

No. It isn't about the commission. It is about someone sending a mass email filled with lies. Some silly lies (James’s response was one word: “goodbye.” Well, you can read clearly that it wasn't. ..."We feel that it is inconsistent to offer a “free” forum (as it is described in the Terms of Use) and then behind the scenes demand payment for its use" Hmmm. When did we demand payments again? "If one of our guests books a tour with our hotel (which they often do and did in this case) and later discusses it on playa.info, either to invite others to join or to comment about what a great tour it was, by James’s reasoning he would be entitled to the commission." amazing!)

I posted that I would open up Tony and Cheri's posting rights after I had slept and had a chance to post the truth behind this... what we've been forced to post due to their email.

But, really, what is to be said? We aren't interested in debating the commission issue. It's not very important, really. We've gotten burned by lots of people before. We tend to move on and not look back. We sleep better. They'll say they didn't burn us. OK, fine, we disagree. But, again, no issue there. That's not stuff we discuss in public anyway, well, unless we have to disclose it to protect ourselves, as in this instance.

Will they argue that I've not posted the entire thread of PMs that I sent them? No, because I did.

Will they argue that I've fabricated the email they sent out? No, because I didn't.

What can they say?

They can apologize. That's it.

If a retraction is sent out to the same mail distribution list, I'll sanitize the forum of both dramas and there will remain no remnants. This thread and all related documents. If not, we will be forced to defend ourselves.

This whole thing bores and distracts us. We have much more productive things to do.

I am sorry James, I had written that before reading yours and Anna's posts right before I posted ; I see that now.
I know it's not remotely the issue for you guys; I just still think it would be nice gesture on their part along with the apologies and retractions. 'In an ideal world' kind of thing.

I just hope this can be worked out peacefully so we can get back to more important things like "Bush is the best/worst President ever" or "Go Pack, beat Oakland"

I may have met Tony and Cheri at a peep meet (who remembers), I have not met James or Anna but know Heather and Mitch. Both are great tour guides

Seriously, I hope you can all wok [EDIT Oops, I must be hungry] it out. I think a partnership between your two businesses will be of mutual benefit.

This is none of my business, or anybody else's either, except the principals of Playa, info and the Luna Blue. None of us have all the facts and background, or a vested interest in resolving the situation, other than a selfish concern on how it can impact on our virtual community. As far as I'm concerned, no good can come from the participation of however well-meaning individuals. James, Anna, Tony and Cheri are all adults and should be left to their own devices to bring this unfortunate issue to a resolution....or not. While I wouldn't take it upon myself to do it, I would suggest this thread be closed, and let's move on.

Ditto. IMHO all parties need to think about the LONG-TERM ramifications of their actions. I think all will benifit by repairing any damaged relationships.

I'm done this this and related threads.

actually, yes, EVERYONE has all the facts. I've posted every word I contributed to the dialog with Tony and Cheri upon which the Luna Blue email was based, which has also been posted for everyone to read.

It will remain an open issue until either a retraction is issued or they are no longer involved in the business.

I'm not going to get embroiled in the "drama" part, but I DO think each of us as individuals have to ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND that first and foremost we owe James and Anna "first dibs" on any kind of lodging, good or service we might need when we're in Playa and environs. Heaven knows I have not been a big source of revenue for them, but where it works from a needs and monetary perspective, I do use them. (And have muled generously )

I think it unfortunate that this imbroglio's genesis seems to be a playa.info peep going to the wrong resource for trip planning. Where it has gone since, I'm not going to retread.

But we need to remember what a fantastic resource James and Anna have created here -- not just out of love, but for commercial reasons as well. James has, for a while, been a lot less hard-hitting on that point than he used to be, IMHO, but it seems some folks need a reminder.

Suit yourself, James, but I don't think there's anything to be gained by picking at a festering sore. We all know there is more to the "facts" than "I said - You said." Perception, interpretation, and attitude are at least as valid as fact and more powerful than the printed word. I guess I best practice what I preach, so this will be my last comment on the subject.

So, what's the weather going to be like in February, and how will the beach be at Mamitas, and will my cell phone work in the men's room at the Beer Bucket, and should I bring US funds traveler's cheques with me, or canvas bags full of Krugerrands?

Bump, you are wise as ever.

We've read the latest email they've sent out. We just don't get it, and we aren't going to break out the personal emails between us to try and disprove the latest volley. At this point, we're resisting our urge to comment further; it will only result in a childish 'that's not true' rethoric that is both boring and pointless. We are going to say, "yeah, whatever" and move on to more interesting matters.

It's their problem now.

For example, Anna is doing the victory dance right now, having learned that Sweden is the #1 country in the world in which to be a mother!
