Pac Chen tour

Me again! I did the search, did not find any mention of the Pac Chen tour, so was wondering if anyone here did it, and feedback. The variety of this tour is appealing. We are doing the fatcat, and flopping between Xacaret or Pac Chen-since we are only on holiday for a short while, and want time to just lay on the beach thus we can't do everything we want! Thanks in advance. Have a great day. Michele

Mrs Juanito & I went on the Coba-Pac Chen tour that Alltournative operates.

We did not go to Xcaret or on the Fat Cat tour, so we can't compare them.

The tour was great! The story about it on this website is pretty complete, so I can't think to add much.

Wear comfortable walking shoes, only use that biodegradable sunscreen and bring extra water and a wide-brimmed hat.

My only complaint is that they charged me the regular rate instead of the Internet rate; but maybe that's my own fault because I did not book far enough in advance.

Bring a little extra money to rent a bike at Coba, to buy a picture of you flying over the cenote on the zip line and to tip the guide and the lunch service staff.

Shellb,
If you go to the top of the page and pick read more scroll down to the features and then choose Alltournative Trip report. The report is all you need to know about Pac Chen tour.
Have fun.

Hi, we did the Coba/Pac Chen tour with Alltournative last week and had a really wonderful time. It's a very full day but well paced, and with enough quiet time in between activities to not totally tire you out. Ours had Coba in the morning and then Pac Chen in the afternoon (other groups have it reversed with Pac Chen in the morning) which worked out perfectly because we were able to swim in the cenote just when the sun was getting too hot. Our guide was knowledgeable and had stories to share without being too rehearsed and rigid about schedules.

Just a few things to keep in mind that might help you out:
1. Try to wear comfy shoes, keeping in mind that there will be a lot of walking on uneven terrain. One of the people on the tour with us was in flipflops and she herself was not only uncomfortable (both in climbing the ruins and trekking through Pac Chen) but felt that she came very close to twisting her ankle several times.
2. They do provide water for you, but in small bottles so you may want to bring an extra supply.
3. We brought a disposable underwater camera with us and were able to take some nice pictures in the cenote. They take pictures of you when you are ziplining and rappelling as well and these cost about 85 pesos each. Although they might sound a little pricey, please do consider buying them as a way of directly supporting the community's efforts.
4. On the ride home you'll stop at the resthouse halfway--don't make the mistake of going straight to the bathroom as I did and miss the tequilla shots!
5. Although we chose to walk the 2 km to the big ruin in Coba, in hindsight it might be a good idea to rent a bike from the stand there and save yourself time and sweat getting to the ruins.

We thought that it was one of the highlights of our trip and highly recommend it. It was a nice change from all the laying out on the beach that we did. Have fun!

Yeah, Dittoes on that.

Buy a picture & support Sustainable Development.

They have a really cool setup; their computer & printer are powered by a solar panel. No Hydrocarbons were harmed in the production of your picture.

They can make money selling you pictures or they can clear-cut the jungle & run cattle; the choice is yours........
