A cruise for one person - can it be done?
I want to take a cruise this winter. I'll be taking it alone, but all the travel agencies tell me I must pay for two (minus the air fare for one). All prices shown are based upon double occupancy. However, one travel agent told me that if I travel to a port city and try to get on the ship at the last minute, I will only have to pay for one if there are any empty cabins. Has anyone ever tried this? I don't really care what the ports of call are as long as it's warm.

why not just go solo to Playa???

Fantastic!!! Well, then, I wish I had some good advice for you on the solo cruise thing - but I've never done a big cruise ship vaca before, only small charters. So if you ever need advice on that, let me know!

I am too. Especially last minute when the cabin may go empty anyway. I've tried Hobbit Travel and Priceline and got the same story from both. Seems like all vacation packages are based on double occupancy.

Ya - it has been awhile. Our son just got married this summer so I was really busy with that. BTW - the avatar photo was taken at the wedding. I really have very few photos of myself because I'm usually the one taking the pictures. Our band takes up a lot of my time. I'm thinking of trying my hand at song writing and recording now too but I seem to suck at it so far. I miss all of my friends on this site. I'll try to post more. Still working two days a week too. When I went back to work, I thought it was going to be a six month stint but I've been back for over three years now. They keep finding more things for me to do. It pays for my trips and guitars though so I can't complain. OK - I'll stop rambling. PM sometime. Maybe I'll be down in your area one of these days.
