So has anyone eaten there?
I passed by a couple of times last week (it's only a few blocks from my place) but it always seemed empty. Has anyone eaten at the new HC or is everyone waiting for someone else to report back?
Someone break the ice and try it and let us know................Is it as good as the HC on Calle 1? Or is it a pale imitation? Someone please lead so that we poor acolytes may follow. |

It's OK. Phew.
We've tested HCs today, and all's as it should be. Meat, salsa, jacket potato - the full monty. The black framed boxes are now half painted out for some reason. The owner is hoping it'll be popular, an understatement methinks. |

Last night, Michael and I tried out the new HC de Monterrey on Constituyentes between 25 and 30 (just east of the El Fogon) and ALL was as it should be. The paquete with arrachera nacional, avocado, baked potato or onion, salsa and crema was 99 pesos. Cerveza was 20 pesos each. One thing I noticed that was different is that on the menu they no longer offered an option to buy just the meat by the kilo, then add sides as you saw fit (this was always less expensive for a big group). They did sell meat by increments of 300 grams, however.
![]() The waiter (who was a waiter at the old location on Calle 1 Sur) told me that the old location was no longer affiliated with the "real" HC de Monterrey and that the only two locations are the one on Constituyentes and the one on CTM. This is Heather Andersen signing off on her meat reporting for today. Back to your regularly scheduled forum. |

Wow! So there are TWO new HC's!
I did not know that there was a second new branch of HC de Monterey on Constituyentes. I saw the one on the CMT and that was the only one that people talked about. I must have driven by the Constituyentes site last week at least a dozen times and never noticed it.
It seems that this corner where the MEGA sits is becoming a major center for good eats with El Fogon, Huaraches, Pesca, el Natural and now HC de Monterey all in one corner. Kind of like a Playa food court. |
