Monday, before the kids arrive. Enjoying the beach
Breakfast at Playa Maya
![]() ![]() Nothing like breakfast on the beach. ![]() Eggs Benedict, recommended by Toni (Luna Blue owner) and very good. ![]() John with his new hat. He got it for 50% of the starting price, that's why the seller is not smilling I guess. ![]() Great lunch at La Tarraya. ![]() Donna with a grouper sandwich & great FF's Shrimp Ceviche & Guacamole

Keep it coming......
seems like you enjoyed the breakfasts at Playa Maya? Do they serve a continental breakfast with your room and then you can order off the menu if you wish? Just wondering, as it won't be long until we'll "be there" doing that.

They have 3 choices for free off the menu. I'm not sure if I got this right, but 1st is continental, 2nd is continental + fruit plate, and 3rd is continental + choice of bacon and eggs or pancake and eggs. Both of #3 come with same amount of fried taters and onion. Several time I would get the #2 and add to it.

The kids are hungry.
My daughter and son-in-law (Molly & Brad) show up at the hotel about 3 and they are starving. This is there first trip to Playa or Mexico as far as that goes. They had no problems with there flights from Indy thru Atl or with the ADO bus. Once checked in it’s 2 orders of Playa Maya chicken taco.
![]() We meet up with them later at Pez Vela on 5th for Margaritas and they are hungry again. After all it’s been 3 hours since they last ate. I thought El Sarape would be a good place for there first dinner in Playa. ![]() And it was. We shared some ceviche. They shared the Mexican plate. They loved it, all very good. I had the beef and chicken brochette. Donna had tacos pastor ![]() Donna and Molly checking out all the SHOE STORES across Juarez We hit Don Carmelos on 10th for Ice Cream. The Chocolate and Coconut mixed together is my favorite. ![]() We walked up 10th Ave so they could see some of the off 5th Ave places and we come across Mr. Kiwi that is next to Dr Taco. They really liked the looks of this little place and want to come back later to EAT SOME MORE. We are walking by Babe’s on 10th Street and who do we see? ? ? ? ? ![]() JimmyMN (& No) They had just finished eating at Babe’s after being in Tulum on the beach all day. ![]() They want to get cleaned up after there day in Tulum so we meet up later at La Rana. By now the Molly and Brad ( been 3 hours) and they are hungry a g a i n. So we all go back to Mr. Kiwi ![]() Checking out the menu. ![]() They seem to be enjoying there first day in Playa ![]() Brad ended up with one for there 2 foot long tortas with, I think everything on it, like chicken beef sausage and Molly got 3 steak tacos. Now they are happy. ![]() End up at El Pirata of a few. Even got to see the fire dancers next door. We all gave out about midnight ( I think this was Donna’s and my latest night ever in Playa. How can JimmyMN go till dawn (hence, the reason Cuffedlinks sent him the Energizer Bunny shirt). Sadly we never saw anymore of Jimmy and No (her name this trip). ![]() Coming tomarrow, it's pizza in Mexico 9

Loving the report and cannot wait to read more. Makes me lonesome for the next trip.
I am wondering about the Playa Maya continental breakfast selections....we stayed there in July 2007 and paid for breakfast when we ate there??? |

Cozumel bar crawl
Hey when you guys did you bar tour over in Cozumel how much did it cost for the van all day? I am thinking we might head over there for the day. Would you recommend those bars for a bunch of 23 year olds? I have them all written down any others ones you would add??

The taxi van cost we negotiated was $80 for 4 hours. We got a late start, went over on the 11 ferry. We will take an earlier ferry next time so we can go more places. We ended up having the van 5 hours or so and gave the driver $100 plus a $30 tip. He was as happy as we were at the end of our ride. There was 6 of us, and I'm thinking they like to get $15 a person. I would take the 8am ferry and eat breafast AFTER the ferry ride. It rocks and rolls a lot and makes lots of people a little sea sick. Age does not really make any difference I don't think. You need to order a Map Chick Can-Do map for Cozumel, not the one that has all the diving spots, the regular one. It has all the beach clubs marked and the better ones highlighted in yellow, plus tons of other information. This map is a MUST, it even has a cost & rating on the magaritas. Mine is a 2005 and I do not know if they have updated this one or not. They have a brand new one just out for Playa also. There was at least 4 more places we would have liked to have gone to after Palancer. If your going to drink much a taxi is a must. There have been stories about some of the places calling the police on people after leaving there bar. If you can, avoid the weekdays, that's when the most cruise ships are in. We went on Sunday. Mondays and Fridays are not as bad as Tuesday thru Thursday. One more thing, some of the taxi drivers have places that THEY want you to go (I'm sure they get a something out of that), so you might have to remind the driver which place. I just ordered the new Playa map. I didn't even think about buying the cozumel one right away. Don't know what I was thinking on that one! Our cruise stopped there last year and know what you are talking about with the larger crowds during the week. I will check out the cruise cal website to see what day there won't be many ships in port! Thanks again!

Yep, 42nd, but I do not think 42nd goes thru to 5th Ave. We go up 5th to 38th, turn right toward the beach ( past Cueva Del Chango) 2 blocks then turn left on Flamingos and go 2 blocks. It is on the far left corner. If you would go straight to the beach, this is where Shangri La hotel is. There is a new condo with these huge colums in front of it where you turn to the left. Really looks out of place here.
