Can you buy big ice chests in Playa?

A group of 10 of us are coming to Playa next month, and I'm wondering if I should bring an ice chest with me as checked baggage, or pick one up while I'm there...if they are around to be purchased. It's going to have to serve 10 of us, and the cerveza will be flowing 18 hours a day for 8 days, so a collapsable will likely not suffice.

Obviously, we've gotten to the point before leaving on vacation where you're so excited you can't sleep and think about silly (to some, although I take my beer drinking very seriously) things such as this.

I have probably spent 70 hours reading through all the posts on this website. I'm pumped!

We bought one last time we were there(2years ago) at the grocery store and it wasn't cheap. Now we just use our 50qt. igloo extreme with wheels as luggage and wheel that sucker down to the beach full of whatever we want.

Stop off at Chedraui and pick one up. I think we bought ours at Sam's in Cancun, but they are available here in town.

I was just at Chedraui. There is a wall of coolers right now near the check out. A 36 quart Coleman (or Igloo, I don't remember) was 25 bucks. They had bigger ones with wheels also.

coolers

We bought one at Chedraui 2 weeks ago, and before leaving for home yesterday we gave it to the desk man who was so helpful in making our stay more enjoyable. You get your moneys worth out of using it, then it makes a great tip.

Thanks guys...sounds like a plan. And from a 'cheap beer' search, it seems like that's the perfect place for me to fill the ice chest as well (if there's a better/cheaper choice, please let me know). Can't wait. Thanks again!
