Glass Bar

We're in Playa now, very sad that the Glass Bar has closed. I think I read on another thread that they had problems with the landlord -- I just find it incomprehensible to see one of the best corners in Playa left lacking by closed, papered over windows.
Having said that, we ate last night at Da Vino, across the street and the same owner (?) and while pricey, the food and service were excellent. Very nice italian meat appetizer, best prosciutto I've had down here.
We'll miss the Glass Bar, though, the wine list was extraordinary and the location unbeatable for people watching.
And here we sit, perusing the list for tonight's destination ---thanks so much!

We just got back and had some terrific food. Carboncitos USED to be one of our favs. This has now been replaced by El Fogon and HC Monterrery. We have always enjoyed Yaxche, but this time it was just OK. Maybe b/c we ate there after we had El Fogon. The Panuchos were very good tho. We tried to find El Asadero del Carbon. We walked up 4th from La Quinta to 25th and then towards 2nd. No evidence of the place. Not sure if it has closed, or were we in the wrong area? My husband was a little apprehensive pushing the baby in the stroller, but I kept saying everything was fine. Wish we could have found it.

Which El Fogon did you go to? Across from Mega is closest to us but haven't gotten any reports since the name change.
El Fogon blows Carboncito's tacos pastor away! I still love Carboncitos though, cold beer, great mango daquris (with HC rum), whatever that chopped arrachera taco plate is called is great and it's right off 5th

Here's the front of Asadero el Pollo, Pollos Asados al Carbon - Estilo Sinaloa...
20th Ave and 2nd St Norte
Pretty sure they close early (6pm?)
Edit: uhhh yeah the sign says so right there 6pm.....
Can someone clarify 2nd St Norte, is that 1 block north of Constituyentes? I had a taxi take us there.

No, that is not 1 block from Constituyentes, but 1 block from Juarez.

Tacos

My wife and I had taco at a small resteraunt and art gallery called La Adela on what I believe was fifth avenue, and the steak tacos were very good at not a very bad price. The person next to me had a plate full of massive shrimp also.
We also had dinner at dinner at Casa Del Agua which also was very good, but was much more expensive. I think it was probally worth it though, a very romantic setting, as our concierge who made our reservations also told them it was our fifth aniversary and they brought out a desert that said happy fifth aniversary on the plate in chocolate, and didn't charge us for the cake. We were in Playa Del Carmen June 20-25.

Funny, Chilangito means a "little guy from Mexico city" but nobody would ask for such combination here. But if you enjoyed it: "Buen Provecho" and get a second plate.

We went to the El Fogan across from Mega.
We were looking for El Asadero del Carbon--it was supposed to be on 25th betwn 2nd and 4th. Mindbender had posted about this place in the past.

I think that the Chileguiles are much better at El Fogan.

I still enjoy Carboncito's, esp for the queso fundido and the salsa sampler platter. I just thought the food was better, at least the chiliquiles and the tacos al pastor were better at El Fogan. My husband loves the Kamikaze shrimp.
