Thank you!
We used a similar list last time we were in Playa and it was completely worn out by the end of our two weeks. I'm sure this one will be as well used! Just booked my Christmas present two weeks the end of January. |

One of the things I wish would accompany something like this is a price range. I appreciate your mention of how expensive "Chicago Don Jose" is as a place to dine. 2 years ago my wife and I went there to try a steak as it was a reccommended place and I almost soiled myself when I saw the prices. For some price is no object, but for a teacher from MN price is a concern, especially when I can go to the H&C and LOVE IT for a tenth the price!
Great list though and I will use it again this Feb when we arrive in Playa. |

I don't think you ever have to go in to a restaurant in Playa not actually knowing the prices. I thought most places have their menus displayed quite prominently at the door, or you can ask to see one. That never seemed to bother the waiters in their attempt to get us to come in to dine.

You have a good point there Isomami
You are right. My review of Dona Mary is confusing and inadequate. I have changed it and it will be in my next update of the list. I appreciate your pointing this out and keeping me honest.
I had heard a good referral to Dona Mary, and because it is right down the street from El Fogon, one night when El Fogon was full and I did not want to wait or walk down the block to El Pastorcito, I decided to give Dona Mary a try. It was full of locals, and they did not seem to have a menu, which seemed to be pretty limited. I got the breaded chicken cutlet plate. It was very well priced, but completely forgetable and without much taste. From what I could see from the other diners' dinners, the attraction seemed mostly based on price benefit. I passed on the recommendation I had heard, but tried not to give it my personal thumbs-up, but it did not come out clearly in my review. But I would love to hear from other folks who tried Dona Mary so they can confirm my previous one-time impression or maybe update me as to the improved quality of their product. Come on. Help me out here. |

Thanks for the great list of eating places
Thanks so much for your posting. Looks like we'll have a busy two weeks eating our way through Playa. Seriously, we're looking at cooking our own food as well. Any recommendations re. buying fresh seafood. Thanks!

Thanks for the list, I'm sure it will come in very handy for our trip the end of the month. We usually spend the day by the pool, surfing the internet, picking out where to eat lunch and then dinner. The list will be a great start. Thanks again.

For a few weeks (nov and dec) it would have appeared to some that La Parilla was closed during the day due to the massive amount of construction that seemed to appear from nowhere. They were busy trying to install steel girders to create a second floor or something over the outside area. Incredibly each night tho - they still opened to serve food!! Only in Mexico! So unless something else has happened since then- this could have been the scene someone may have encountered and thought it closed.
