Not to tread on Als toes but got word that El DIEZ is expanding to the locales which were recently vacated next door. PS AL something different about the quality of meat at DIEZ ?? (Not tender like arachera Not what it used to be and upon further investigation word has it they have gone to a cheaper cut from the supplier . Been there 3 times in the last week and it was disappointing to say the least. It was almost as bad as El Carnicero on 5th. Oh well HC still gives a good bang for the buck just not the atmosphere of Diez.imho

Actually saw 3 guys conferring this morning out front of the old Mollosko and 1847 (the 2 locals adjacent to el Diez) with the doors open and it looked like they were making plans for the future. As far as El Diez, the only steak that I eat there is named "VACIO Argentino". Not sure about the quality of other cuts. I would venture to say the Diez is the most consistently busy restaurant in the north end. Already had plans to go there tonight with friends for dinner.

Yup i agree it is definitely the bussiest , but logic would tell you that if they are expanding and paying close to what i heard they were asking for the locales not to mention the 60,000. key money (negotiable i suppose ) something has got to give to maintain those prices and service. I would hope it's not the quality which is what i am seeing at this time. PS i also eat the Vasico and it's not the same as years past .IMHO

Going to have the Vacio Argentino tonight and will report back

Also was talking to the builder of Lucky Lucianos (pizza and more) and the Choperia. He said that they are set to open in 2 weeks (corner of calle 28 and AV. 5). I could do without the black paint on the exterior of Lucky Lucianos though.

You like that all black paint job

Googled a review of L.L. pizza and I found a couple that tests and reviews pizza everywhere they travel. They said it was okay.

Have you noticed the new Telcel communications tower on top of L.L.. What you can't see is all of the CLAUSARADO stickers all over the base of the tower. Luckily, Slim probably has enough money to have them removed.

I heard tonight while dining on that tasty Vacio Argentino steak that they (el Diez) was paying key money (I always called it "black money) $60,000 USD per each local plus the rent of $3000-$3500 USD per unit per month . An to hell with the 20% discount..........my friend bought dinner = 100% discount . He was so happy that his friend (she works at Chilly Willys) just got out of immigration detention at Cancun Airport after more than 2 weeks in "jail". You are not SUPPOSED to "work" (even at Chilly Willys) with an FMM, non working visa!

Also I rethought my busiest restaurant comment, and on a daily basis probably La Vagabunda, 2 1/2 blocks south of el Diez, is as busy or busier (more people served but daily gross $$ less ) than el Diez.

Free is good but a 20% discount on everything (at el Diez) ain't bad either.

YO TACOS (former location of Aca las Tacos) should open sometime this week. Corner of Constituyentes and AV. 5.

HOLY CANNOLI (another creation by Denato) opened several days ago.
Some items on the "menu" board: lasagna, pizza by the slice, pasta with Italiano sausage, cannoli rostico, mozzarela in carrozza. I think that there might be some different food items (specials) eveyday.

Just heard a study featured on CNN that eating processed red meat, burgers, bacon, etc. could reduce your life span by 20% . So much for the Vacio steak - but it is so good,
