Tell me, please, is there any good sushi/sashimi places in PDC???

It was a great tip above about the limoncello for wine trade. My son and I make it at home, at auction it off at local fund raisers. We usually try to take an extra bottle to pass around for tasting, which makes the auction price go way up! .

Annabelle, Where is the Hot Baking Co. located? Also, what time did you chase the shrimp taco carts? As, I would hate to miss something that sounds so good. This is our first visit to Mexico and the information I have found on this forum has been fantastic. Thank you all, for your advice.

Sadly, if you are really a big sushi/sashimi fan, even the best in Playa will be a disappointment. It is one of the sacrifices I endure living in paradise. For a fix, try Sushi Tlan on 5th Ave. between calles 28 and 30. Unless you want cream cheese on everything, you need to specify "sin queso".

Care to share your limoncello recipe/technique with us. I would like to make it with limes!

Limoncello

recipe is very easy and reasonably quick. I've substituted limes, and ruby grapefruit and they all turn out well. Zest a dozen lemons and pour one bottle of Everclear 151 clear grain alcohol over the zest in a mason jar. Store in a dark cool place for four days, shaking the bottle once daily. On day four, strain the zest, and make a simple syrup, combining 2 cups of water with one and 1/2 cups of sugar, in a sauce pan over high heat, until all sugar is dissolved. Wait until the syrup is cool and mix to taste. I figure 2 cups of syrup to 1 3/4 cups of alcohol will end up around 90 proof (give or take). Pour the final product in an old wine or other bottle, cork it and place in the freezer overnight, until the limoncello or limecello is thick and freezing cold. Enjoy at your own risk!

Limocello...sounds great! Does anyone know if the Argentinian restaurant on the North end of Playa is still there? It was next to a Haagen Daz and another restaurant and there was a fountain by the seating area. I think it was called "Arrachera"?? Was a last year and I don't see it listed on the list. It was new when we were there and we loved it. Hope it made it!

Where is this list located? I have a partial listing but a lot of the places you talk about is not on it?

The Hot Baking Co. is located off 5th on 14th I believe. If you walk north on 5th, it's where the road angles off to your left and there's sort of a mall area there. You will find it right behind John Gray's restaurant. It's quite small, but very good. As for the shrimp taco stands, we hit 'em right after they rolled out about 8:00 a.m. and again about 4:00 p.m. in time for the breakfast or dinner crowds. Not all the stands have shrimp tacos, we only found 1 that did. The othere mostly have pork but they are very good, too. I didn't feel comfortable eating here if I thought the food had been sitting out too long. When it was fresh and the sauces hadn't been sitting in the sun for a long time, I felt safer eating there.

Thanks for the tip on the taco stands and the Hot Baking Co. I am really looking forward to trying all the different places to eat I have read about on this forum. I have printed out the updated restaurant list and think the hardest thing will be deciding which great place to eat.

I printed out the list and carried it in my purse daily. We found several places that we liked, but I realized many were on 30th, where the locals hang out. We spent one morning walking 30th from south to north and it was so interesting. Lots of little markets & restaurants. We also tried Tango Taco and it was really good. We especially liked the onions soaked in habanero which were added to our tacos. We had to eat at Ajua!, too. The food was good, but mostly we eat there for the fun and the caesar salad they make right at your table.

one of the places I wanted to try was Pincho Gringo but we couldn't find it. The street that takes you there was torn up and we couldn't get down it without taking the beach. I heard they make great shrimp tacos there and have good Bloody Mary's.
