Di,
Not sure yet, but might be able to swing a trip out there in Aug. We were married out on the island Aug 30 last year, so might be able to get out there in Aug....
James, If they will allow us to bring Alberta beef, and you guys aren't afraid of it, I will bring a big rack of ribs. along with some pork ones, with us on our next trip....Make sure your BBQ is ready for it. Looks like maybe November...might have to borrow another one to handle the guests..and with any luck, some of the regulars will be down there at the same time....JAH, Michael,etc.....hint hint...
Roni...Sorry to hear about the wife's company...Isn't that the norm about now??? We will just have to find a time for us all to get together...Man, what a bbq that will be!!!!

Count me in for a BBQ in Vancouver. We have a backyard big enough to accommodate but it's a work in progress. Ron, hint, hint I may wish to exploit your gardening talents.

MoonDance,
The gardening talents reside mostly in the person of my partner, Kathy. In fact, she is looking at enrolling in a program in Landscape Design. I think she would enjoy it and hope she follows through.

Your climate is not all that different from ours here in Portland, I understand.

Sorry to be un-optimistic but I think that meat, fruits, and sometimes even cheese* are banned by our countries, unless they are canned. But will have to check througly with customs.

* Depends on the packaging/processing of the cheese, but once I had trouble at the airport and the keep a lot of good cheese I was planning on savoring at home.

As I understand it, meat is okay as long as it has the USDA stamp on the package. I brought it in once (ribs and New York strips, of course), but my luggage wasn't checked that time.

I've brought in cheese several times, but only the sealed package variety.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are no-nos.

I cooked it again this weekend, the veracruz recipe. Salmon is very good with it. It received universal acclaim, and I did some chicken with the sauce for one guest who does not eat fish.

Those are good news, I wasn't sure as my Mom rutinely brings food back and forth between Mexico and California, but she has good luck and normally her luggage is not checked (or whe it is, they don't know what they found, hehe).

We need somebody flying these days to ask at the airport what is prohibited and what just has to comply with certain rules.

OK BOYS & GIRLS.......lets do it

I got permission today to do our BBQ Sleepover. So get the ribs, chicken & beer ready.Your campers, tents,RVs & you can sleep here.
I am thinking either the beginning of August or Sept,Labor day weekend.
What dates are you all available?
This will be the hard part I know....but lets do it.
I was just thinking:
We have a Big Classic Car show here on Sept.6th,that would be a great time to have it,if theres any interest on your part.Gives you something to do Saturday while I work, then BBQ party after that.
Let me know what you think?.......di 8)

As far as I know we are available at either of those times. For us, I wouldn't worry too much about other things to to in Vancouver, we have never been there and will certainly have a lot of sights to see.

If James/Anna would rather this be taken off the board, we can put together a little planning email list.
