Thank you... or whatever this thread should be called
So- I am slowly overcoming the jetlag, my cold which I aquired on top of my existing bronchitis on the plane and the shock of *suddenly* being back home.
![]() The trip home went well- and somehow seemed to pass in the blink of an eye, so in the last two days I've just been stunned when waking up and not seeing sunshine and palmtrees. If I didn't have the pictures to remind me it was all real I would have started thinking it was all just a dream- the two months passed in the blink of an eye. It was so good to be away from home, it helped me re-energize for what is to come in the next year and see things more relaxed. Moreover I have met so many inspiring people while in Playa. So I felt it was appropriate to open a "Look at YOU" thread and give some props where props are due..........the order is not particular, I am just typing this out as it comes to my head. First of all the honeybunny- Vanessa. The trip would have not been the same without you- and as I told you and mentioned on the board once you were gone I almost felt a bit.... lost even though still surrounded by such wonderful folks. I know I have found a friend for life, a partner in crime that likes me the way I am with my little moods and quirks in you- and I appreciate that beyond words. You are a wonderful person who sometimes doesn't even seem to realize HOW wonderful, with a big heart and a clever head- anyone who has never met you is missing out on a LOT. I feel honored to call you my friend. And btw- my statue broke as well on the way back, in true "sister spirit" although I had packed her to the umpteenth degree in stuff to avoid that. ![]() Heather- board crush, still!!! ![]() SUCH great help before and within the trip, wether it was with finding a good place to stay, booking transfers or finding the switch to get the gas running (oh wait- that was Michael, but only because Heather sent him over.....what a SWEET guy as well, WHAT a cute couple!!!!). Anyone ever turning to her as a friend or as a client can rest assured that she will do anything that is needed to help out in the best way. Moreover such an awesome and great person- witty, smart, fun, helpful and all the other things that everyone has met her keeps talking about. And so beautiful as well- I told her I LOVE her profile and will say it here again. James and Anna- haven't met them in person, obviously. But have to send a heartfelt thank you out to them as well as their appartment was where I stayed and it was a second home for me during the stay. As folks on this forum know they are selling the house it is in- and I can only highly recommend for anyone that is looking to buy property in Playa to check it out- it is such a cute place, really nice backyard with a pool as well- and I felt safe there the whole time, even as a single woman (and we all know that isn't said about every place in Playa!!!). As I can only recommend for anyone to rent the appartment from them! Jez- also great help before and during the trip and moreover a unique and faboulous guy!! A true original, witty and down to earth- plus straight to the point in conversations, a treat not everyone has (including me.... hehe). Someone who made me feel at home away from home from day one by his help and assistance whenever needed (including finding adapters when I actually didn't need one as I had a blonde moment.....ahem). Rick and Susie- what can I say?????? Such CUTE couple, wonderful, warm, caring, easygoing personalities that I shared one of the most memorable days of the trip with, my day in Majahual. A true bonding experience, extreme in an emotional way ......... and whenever I hear "Stand by me" now it will bring back memories of sitting in the van on the way back. I am so glad I got to spend that day with you. Andy and Jen- no need to mention how inspiring those two are with what they do!!! Big hearts, great minds. Sweet people who won't give up when there is struggle because they do what they do from their hearts, and their hearts only. There can't be enough people like you in the world we live in today!!!!! Claudia- only met her on Halloween but had many convos with her on the phone and reg. Majahual. A woman that puts all on the line if needed to do voluntary work in Majahual and Tabasco- that says it all I guess. Moreover caring and fun to talk to. Thumbs up! Paulo and Claire- cute couple. Clever, witty, worldly folks. The first ones to invite me to a party in Playa- and also some of the last ones at my party. Hehe. But not only great partygoers but great personalities!!! Sunny- the little sunshine from Iceland. Great nights on the swings with ya girl!! Sweet, sweet, sweet!! Ryberg- didn't meet you but thanks for giving me a home for the first night! Hope we'll drink that beer next time! Then of course all the folks who live there who I should have probably met more often but simply didn't- Mark, Anna Tortuga, Judy and Steve, Rob, Mindbender, Gary, Aurel, Luis.................... et al. Ugh- I am REALLY scared of forgetting someone, if I did forget YOU in this list I am SO sorry.................... it is pretty hard to go through the events of two months and make sure that noone is forgotten..........esp. as my brain is still fried from jetlagging. Then of course there were all the peeps who came and went......and were great company while there, inspiring too...... too many to mention, but you know who you are!!!! Some of the ones I would like to mention though- Vieve- SUCH a sweetheart. And yes- I openly and officially apologize to you here once again that I was such a ........ when it came to keeping in touch via mail while there in Playa. YOU my dear will get a loooooong email one of the next few days. You are not forgotten- how could one forget such a clever, witty, funny and moreover bighearted person such as you??? An integral part of the day in Majahual, without you the trip would have not been the same and without your organizational work before it would have probably never happened in the first place!!! Stew- pshah, what can I say? Everything I expected him to be, great travelcompanion while he was there and top line on brain-bending convos! And the master of the queenly wave of course. Now where is that vid of that tamale??????? Silvergirl- you are a VERY warmhearted and gorgeous person. I hope that we'll meet again one day. Carole LB- WOMAN!!! To the bone. Amazing presence!! Wish we had had more time!! Judy from WI and her hubby- it was so sweet to see you two unwind in the course of a week and finally dance on the street on your last night! Came as newbs and left having done it all. PDfly and Flash- when you guys were gone your drop-ins at La Rana were sorely missed by Vanessa and me..... ![]() Of course there are many more that I met- but if I start mentioning all of you this will be a never ending thread. You are all remembered of course, all of you were great to meet and all of you had an impact on my stay there!! ALL of you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Without all of you this trip would have not been what it was.

Speechless…stunned. Crying at my desk at work cause I’m looking out the window at the grey skies and the snow and reading your words only makes me miss You and Me in Playa that much more. Since I’ve been back, I’ve shown the pictures and the slideshow to a few and I try to describe how our friendship evolved and how much you mean to me and I realized that it cannot be put into words. But, at least we know.
And now it’s my turn to Thank You. First, for being such a thoughtful thinker as well as a great listener. The one day that I really needed somebody to turn to and you jumped in a cab and were there for me within minutes. I will never forget that kindness. Second, thanks for your inspiration. You will go forth and do great things in this world. You’ve already made an impact. And third, thanks for just being you. The days I miss the most are when we were just hanging out at La Rana, in the courtyard, or in my room and just talking about all those things that women talk about. I do miss you. But I have a feeling our adventures are not over yet. ![]() Oh and my statue still has a broken arm. I look at her everyday and kind of like her broken. I know…I’m weird. |
