About 15-20 minutes. But Playa (5th Ave) is long. You could walk on 5th for another 15-20 minutes to get the north end. Depends on where you want to go!

Assuming you're not like me and keep getting "distracted".

As I recall, Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal also offers bicycles to its guests.

Do the walk once. There is a neat ruin just before 1st Ave. Part of the old Mayan city of Playa Del Carmen.

If your going to walk, do it in the morning and plan on taking a Taxi back home. The sun can be strong in the mid-day and many of the taxis that are heading south from Play are occupado.

Yes, it is a nice walk, but the sun can take a lot out of you. We always enjoyed it though. The taxi ride is $5 and takes less than 5 minutes.

I'm a fan of the collectivo - so cheap, so easy and the Tucan is so close that there's hardly any other stops before you reach the station and you're almost right at 5th.

We would just walked down to 5th and take a taxi back. The walk is really nice and safe. There is always so much to see, that you don't see when your in a taxi.

Here are a couple views of things you see on your way to town from Iberostar:

I thought I had more, sorry, but there are a few small ruins, an aviary, a small shopping center, and some beautiful homes!
