The most important thing is that your brother and his family made it out alive (except the poor dog
). I hope your brother's burns aren't too severe, and that he recovers quickly. Peace to you all -- you've had quite a rollercoaster ride these past few years, Mari ... I hope 2008 lets you and your family all relax a bit and enjoy each others' company. Please tell your brother that he is in our prayers. |

I am so sorry to hear this
I cannot think of any family that has had more troubles than you have reported on this forum. I truly do hope that the tide turns for you and yours very, very soon. Your burden will certainly become lighter in the next year, that is my hope for you. Ron |

Oh Mari, this is so not your family's year...
I am so sorry you guys are going through all this! Hey, at least you have your family... PM me if you have any questions or problems with the insurance claim for your bro. Peace and joy be with you - things just can't get much worse!

Don't say that! "There is nothing so bad that it couldn't be worse." I used that quote earlier on when things were out of control and I needed to remember that they could be worse. Thank you for the offer. I will let you know how things are with him. He's going to the insurance company tomorrow. Right now he has some vultures who are "offering" to help him for a fee. Roni, It's been a rough few years since my father passed away in 2005. One consolation is that he was spared all of this. Mum is taking it very hard. She's been getting a bit down in the God area.... wondering why all these burdens. There was someone here who posted about really awful things happening in his life (family), and I felt lucky to be me. Can't remember who that was. Anyway, I thank you all for you wishes and prayers once more. See, I thought it was hard enough with my sister's situation, and now we have some more. I really think though we are all lucky to be in one piece and alive. If I don't think this way, I'll probably getting very pissed off! Ginger is hurting too...read about her mum's disappearance. Hoping for good times for us all. Off to wrap some presents. Still have to keep up the Christmas spirit around here, and help sis and mum to feel like there is a reason to continue celebrating. Take care ya'll! |

How horrible. Your family has had to endure so much this year. Thankfully no one was hurt, and you can replace things but not people. Still, to lose everything, and just before Christmas. I am so sorry Mariposita.

My brother will be fine. He has many friends who are inviting them over for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. His wife and kids have not spoken to anyone on the phone since! I think they are still in shock. My brother however is dealing relatively well with the situation. I think he realises how close he came to dying in a fire. If his daughter was at her friend and not at home, he would not have gotten out of the shower in time. Scary to think of, but we are still lucky that they are alive.
Merry Christmas everyone! We are thankful still that we can still celebrate Christmas with them, even though they are in another state. Stew, thanks for the PM. I still think you are a fruitcake

When we were in Playa last year we got an email that my hubbys Aunt & Uncles home (a beautiful log house with 30 some odd years of memories) burnt to the ground. It was devastating for them. They lost everything. Well at the time they thought they lost everything....turns out it was just "stuff"...They were so worried because their daughter had already planned on having her wedding at the house. Well the wedding went on...they just built a dance floor over the foundation of the old house!!!
![]() They will be moving into their new house next month.
