![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kudos to you!!! I did not workout, the last month or so caught up & I went thru some Rachael Ray books & marked what I want to try, napped & caught the "little" man's hockey game. Was extremely tired today, hope to get a workout in tomorrow, then hard at it by Wednesday. |

Well, the big day came and went around Casa Bumper.
Except for one late scratch, the menu was as we showed earlier. As per usual, Mrs. B's culinary expertise was up to its usual exalted standard. We had a flock of folk go through here Saturday. It was a zoo at times, but we wouldn't have missed it for the world. Wassup' with everybody wanting to be in the kitchen? It's always that way, so it wasn't a surprise, though still a mystery. The congestion made it tough sometimes, with a couple or three of the kitchen elves headed out with trays of stuff to work the floor (funny how the plates went out full, but I can't recall seeing any come back with anything on them...go figure) There was also generally one more elf loading and unloading the oven, microwave, and convection ovens, and plating the results, plus trying to make sure all the stuff on the table was replenished. Add in me pulling corks and trying to keep at least 6 different kinds of wine on the table at all times, and it got a tad crowded. No way we could have done it without the Herculean efforts of Mrs. B's sister, and her pal, and chums YWGDon&Deb. Thanks large for your help. After the last guests headed home about 10:30 or so, we ran the dishwasher 3 times, and did the washup on the items that get done by hand. Finally hit the sack about 1:30. Makes for a pretty late night, but it's great not having to get up the next morning to face the carnage. We both felt like we'd been rode hard and put away wet, but it was worth it. If anybody left our place hungry or thirsty....it was their own damned fault. It was great to see Playa Peeps Zelda & Mr. Z, plus Jmac, and YWGDon&Deb. Trust me, we didn't get into much trouble yesterday, and today we get started getting ready for leaving this Friday for our 7 days on Cozumel, with three days in Playa added onto the end. New Years Eve is pretty much a non-event around our house, so we'll continue to recharge our batteries this evening. Some rib eyes on the barby, Mrs. B's fabled Caesar salad, twice-baked potatoes, grilled vegetables, a couple of bottles of exceptional wine. We might make it to midnight. Oh, by the way, or those of you who like to plan ahead, and are in the Winnipeg area, the next Bumper's Open House will be Saturday, December 27, 2008, unless something untoward gets in the way. (Like if I die that day......Mrs. B might consider moving it back a week, and she might have to use some of the horse's ovaries at the wake.) I think I'll go take a nap now.
