Yes, they have some big beach issues to deal with at the Quetzal right now. Here are some photos:

The good news is that the Tucan side is still OK:

Oh my! That erosion is getting really close to the buildings

I hope things get better before they get worse, otherwise those "oceanfront" rooms will soon be "oceanfilled" rooms.

WOW.
When are those pics from? I had clients there in November and I guess it wasn't like that then or they would have told me when I spoke to them. They did stay on the Tucan side but still.....
That is really scary!

Thats awful.
Thats going to take more than a simple storm to put some of that sand back! I guess some of the resorts to the north will be just as bad? Are the Tucan and the Sandos the only resort with a beach left in Playacar? And of course with both the Tucan and the Quetzal sharing the same lounges it can cause some problems as well.

NO! Why would you even consider doing that? The Tucan beach is OK and there are still chairs on the Quetzal side of the beach (just not as many). The area is full of other beaches too - take a ride to Akumal or Tulum, or go into Playa.
Isn't "A" beach better than "NO" beach?

Very sad...it's amazing how things can change from month to month. It's just nature taking its course, but it's still sad to see these resorts creeping closer to the surf. Thanks for the eye-opening pics Shammy!
