I used BookIt for the first time last summer because they had a special price for the hotel that was 40% less than the sites I usually book. I only booked the hotel portion through the site and I did not have any problems. The resort honored the reservations and the promised upgrades without question.

I have had such good luck with Orbitz. I use them for my airline tickets every trip, because they are always less expensive than what my travel agent can get. They are really good about updating your flight status - sending messages to your cell phone. I knew in Cancun that my flight was delayed, before they even announced it at the airport.

Oribtz is less for airfare than what your travel agent can get because your travel agent has to add in a surcharge in order to make any money from booking an airline ticket. Airlines pay no commission and she has to make money somehow, hence the need to add a surcharge when booking air only. You could save even more money if you'd book your flight directly on the airline's web site, you'd avoid the fees associated with booking on Orbitz. If you book a flight on Orbitz (or Expedia, etc) and ever have to cancel that flight - you now hold a credit with Orbitz and not with the actual airline you're flying, and have to make new air arrangements through Orbitz as well. Always better to have your credit directly with the airline.

I do feel for travel agents these days. I don't know how you guys do it. All of us crazy Internet people who always think they have the edge.
I've tried booking directly through the airline and their prices haven't been as good as Orbitz. Thanks for the info about rebooking, though. That's something to consider.
