Please allow me to introduce myself...
...that would make a good intro to a Stones song, huh? Hi y'all. I am a little nervous about this first post...your administrator seems to discourage a lot of questions that seem normal to me, like "where are the good bars? and stuff like that. Here is my story, as well as one question: I'm a North Carolina native, educated at UNC and living in Charlotte. I am called LB by a number of friends, as those are my first and second initials, hence the moniker El Bee. My birthday is January 22 and for the past 3 years, my wife and I have celebrated it on Isla Mujeres. We do love that place, but we're thinking this year about doing something different. We belong to a Mexican vacation club that we joined in 2004 in Los Cabos, and as a result travel to Mexico about twice a year. We have been so busy that we had sort of planned to skip the Mexico birthday thing this year, but now I am regretting that and thinking of doing a last minute PDC trip January 20 - 27. Somewhere online, and some time ago, I found a place that looked like an interesting hotel. It is called Mosquito Blue, and it is not listed among this website's recommended accomodations. We can use our vacation club membership there. So I guess that my question is now obvious: is Mosquito Blue a good choice of hotels? I do have other questions, but guess I'd better search the website first and also decide if we are even going! Muchas Gracias for your responses on the hotel question.

It's not about discouraging the sharing of information. If you Google forum netiquette, or similar terms, you'll find what we ask is pretty standard stuff. The specific things listed as questions best avoided are things that have come up over and over so many times they are probably best searched instead of asking them again.
I've heard both good and bad on MB. I've had friends go back repeatedly. I've had friends say they wouldn't return. I'm sure you'll find both sorts of responses. It's a place that tends to get polarized reactions. |

Thanks, James. I am at work and in my rush to learn, probably posted that comment on the rules without doing as much research as I should have. No sweat. I have now done some searching and followed someone's advice to use TripAdvisor...guess what? Polarized results! Big problem seems to be the noise. Think I'll look at Illusion.

Thanks to you all. I have now done enough research that I placed Mosquito Blue in second place...to Illusion. I chose those two because they are RCI resorts, and the vacation club to which we belong has reciprocity with RCI.
Starting to get pumped about PDC. We just might do this thing! One more birthday swilling tequila in sunny Mexico! I'll be asking more questions, I'm certain, but no more response necessary to this one. |
