Photo books
I am just curious... I have so many pics from my last trip that I decided to make two photo books out of them. Haven't shown my parents many pics yet and when my dad sees one I always realize he has no clue about Easter Island and it's culture. So this is for showing the books to others but mostly they are for my own pleasure as I don't always wanna scroll through the pics on the computer (printing out single pics it is much cheaper but I think looking at them in a book is much more comfortable).
Anyone else has his/her pics in photobooks to keep the memories alive? |

Andiline, are you thinking of making prints and creating scrapbooks, or are you thinking along the lines of creating your own books with a service like Shutterfly? I've seen a couple of the books created with Shutterfly, and both were really beautiful. (one was a "baby" book containing lots of pictures from the pregnancy, the birth, the baptism, etc. and the other was a vacation book, filled with lots of pictures of this family's ski trip to Colorado.) I know it is very easy to create a very nice and professional looking book with this service. Just a thought. Good luck.

We just finished 3 wedding albums for us, my parents and Josh's parents. It was a big pain in the rear-looking at all those pictures and figuring out what should go where, which ones should be bigger etc., but we are so glad we did it. They are beautiful
I like to have pictures in an album too-just hard to get started-once you get started though it flows pretty easily |

I am just ordering the book for Chile online with a service here in Germany. I had them print some of my pics to test them and I was satisfied with the quality. So I just created a book: chose the pics, and their software put them in a certain order (which I could change), I could choose the background and now I am uploading it. It is not a scrapbook, you can have it as hardcover (which is more expensive) or just with a spiral to hold the pages. I am curious how the result will be but I hope it will have the quality of the pics and posters I already have from them. Redecorating my appartment these days...

I LOVE the photobooks... I do them through Walgreens.com... I have made a B/W and a color one for Ashley's wedding... another color one for my nephew's wedding... a B/W one for Riley's first 3 months... and I did one for her first birthday which encapsulated (heh) her whole first year... I plan to do it each year on her birthday... they are fantastic keepsakes...

I haven't tried this yet, but we have Cewe Fotobooks in Norway too, and I am going to try it one of these days. It looks great and the quality is good. As in a printed book of good quality.

I've heard about Cewe Book. But when I look at their german website I see that they are available in shops where I have ordered pics and I didn't like them. E.G. I had lots of work trying to get the blue out of my whale pics so you could see the whales and I didn't know that before printing them they ran an automatic 'optimizing' on the pics and they were so dark again that you can hardly see the whales. This is a reason why I wouldn't order it from Cewe Book here in Germany. Not sure about the books as I didn't see any option to exclude 'optimizing' from the shop where I ordered it. I only hope they won't do it.

I made two photobooks this year for Christmas. One for my parents of Edie in 2007...I was even able to find a buy 1 get 1 free coupon on-line - was able to get one for each set of parents...yippy. The second one I did was our trip to Chicago for the family we went with. I'll try to post the link...if I still can. I made them at mypublisher.com
I'll be doing it again next year - perfect gift! Edie's Book click here Last edited by fireinmn; 01-06-2008 at 11:31 PM.. Reason: adding link |

I used Shutterfly for a book that I did for my husband of pics of just him and our 6 yr old daughter from the last 6 years. I LOVED how it turned out, and it is very easy, and can become addicting. The paper quality is very good and I like that you actually look through a hard covered bound book, and you can put your own words in it. They have travel background paper and many other options to choose from.
