our hardwoods are looking awesome... except two small places where the barstool got knocked over and made a groove in it... and one scratch by the bathroom door... and... no, that's it! Even floor people say our hardwoods look good... they recommend replacing the carpet and couldn't do our tile fast enough...but they said, "Wow, your hardwoods look great." So I will check on that...

I would bet there are some dogs who have "issues"... like some breeds are more likely to have seizures or certain other diseases... |

Several years ago our shepherd Echo lost his adopted pup and got severely depressed. A few weeks after Phoenix's death, Echo ran away and it took us more than a week to find him (a couple of miles away). We went straight to the pound and brought him home a puppy and he was immediately back to his regular happy self and has remained that way for years now. He is getting really old, but they still sleep side by side and spend every waking second together. He just has to have a puppy to raise. But yes, they really do get depressed.

Our old girl mutt Jinx gets very upset if it's storming outside....wind....thunder....lightning.....she don't like it. So she gets Valium to mellow her out. Works like a charm if you give it to her before it gets too stormy outside.

We adopted a feral named 'Katy-cat'. (See feline thread). We put her on Prozac because she was depressed, mean, and anti-social. She continued to get worse...
So, it didn't work for her...consequently it didn't work for us either. She didn't like humans, and she didn't want to share the house with us. It was the last resort for us to try this....narcotics would have worked too, but what kind of life is that for her? So, she went to live in a big barn with little to no human contact (which is what she wanted) and we got two of her kittens in return. They more than make up for their sociopath mother. Two little bundles of joy!

I was wondering if maybe they are like humans being more prone to being depressed the wealthier the country they live in. You know, too much time for self absorbed introspection as opposed to focusing on more important yet (to us) mundane things such as where the next meal is coming from.
![]() Call me cold but if one of my cats was diagnosed as needing an anti-depressant I believe my husband would be loading his....nevermind.
