Hola from Puerto Vallarta
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to say hi to you all. I have been living in Puerto Vallarta for the last 2 years. I think it is time to move on and was thinking about moving to PDC. Could you expats tell me how long is the tourist season? I have heard that it is mas o menos 10 months compared to our 5 months here. After our high season my husband and myself would like to take at least a week and go visit the area. We would like to move our business to the Playa region and need to check things out like rents, locals, suppliers etc..... So while waiting I will keep on reading the board and will be asking questions if you don't mind. Thanks and have a great day ! |

Hi there Cannonball......
Welcome to the forum. I used to travel to Puerto Vallarta frequently....until I found Playa del Carmen and area. I did love it tho and hope to go back some day.I don't really think tourist season ever really ends in Playa. May be a little slower in the fall. Others will have a better idea of that. What is your business in Puerto Vallara? Nice you can just pick up and do the same in Playa. Hope that works out for you. Good Luck. |

Hola cannonball!
I am going back to PV in May for the first time in 5 years. I prefer the beaches and food and lifestyle of E. Mexico but love the ambiance of PV (but the beaches suck). Any great little hideaway must try eateries will be duly noted. If you like the beach, you won't go back to PV! best regards, dr |

Thanks Redhead for the welcome and the heads up. Donny you are right about the beaches. Especially in old town and the marina they really suck. If you got out to Nuevo they are beautiful but nothing to do.
If ever you are in town in May stop by at Mama Dolores on Olas Altas for the best breakfast in town. Maybe I am prejudice because I own the joint but only in the mornings though. I am a beach maniac and hope there are good waves in PDC. Here sometimes the waves go up to 8 -12 feet. |

hey Cannonball....
We used to go to a little cafe under the bridge in PV called Franzie's....great little spot. Is it still there? You prolly won't find those big waves in PDC but we saw them in Cancun recently at Delfines Beach. Huge big waves and the bluest water ever. Easy to get to on public transit from PDC.

Welcome cannonball
I thought there was no other place in Mexico to go but Puerto Vallarta then we went to Playa last Nov. You would enjoy the area a lot and I can see your place doing very well in Playa.. I know if you close Mama Dolores in PV you will be greatly missed (I have read nothing but great reviews about your place) but I understand how it must be in slow Season.. PV's Loss would be Playa's gain.. Good luck in making your decision.. Would Mama Dolores come along..

Hi Catnhat
Thanks for the welcome and thanks also for your words. They mean alot to me. No Mama D would not come with us. It would be just me and my hubby. We have had great success with our breakfasts but as you say the slow season is a killer and I have not moved to Mexico to just work only 5 - 6 months a year. It is not my style. Thanks for your wishes and who knows we may see each other next year. Take care ! |
