I dont think these resorts are really comparible. I would pick Barcelo.
I have stayed at Barcelo and seen and read a lot on the Allegro and Barcelo would blow it away
If you want to stay in town I would my self check out the Iberostar Tucan.
Barcelo is one heck of a resort check out the unofficial web site and discussion board.
